Copper Seedeater
Sporophila bouvreuil
Very small finchlike bird with a short bill. Males are unmistakable—mostly cinnamon with a black cap, wings, and tail. Females are brown above and pale below. Both sexes have a white wing spot. Females are difficult to separate from female Pearly-bellied Seedeaters, but they are less gray overall than Pearly-bellied. Found in savannas and grasslands where it is often seen in flocks with other seedeaters.

Guadalcanal Crow
Corvus woodfordi
A medium-sized crow with a rather short tail and a massive pale dark-tipped bill. Found in lowland and montane rainforest up to 1250 meters of elevation. Voice typically consists of staccato cawing and rasping.

Russet-crowned Quail-Dove
Zentrygon goldmani
A plump ground-dwelling dove with limited range in eastern Panama and barely into Colombia. Brownish above with a grayer breast, whitish face, and reddish legs. Namesake rufous crown is distinctive. Most common in foothills from around 750–1,600 m, but sometimes lower. Like other quail-doves walks stealthily on the forest floor, singly or in pairs. Perhaps most easily seen beside quiet trails early and late in the day. Heard more often than seen.

Lesser Ground-Robin
Amalocichla incerta
A fairly small, long-legged bird of montane forest floor. Brown above with rufous edges to the flight feathers, buffy chest, white throat, and white spot behind the bill. Same general shape and habits as the Greater Ground-Robin, but Lesser occurs at lower elevations and is much smaller. Heard more often than seen. Song, a series of whistled notes, either rising, falling or the same pitch.
