Golden-fronted Redstart
Myioborus ornatus
This unique warbler is gray above and yellow below. Some populations have an entirely yellow face, while others have a white face that contrasts with the bright yellow crown. Like other redstarts in the Neotropics, the white tail flashes are obvious. Unmistakable in its limited range in Colombia and extreme western Venezuela. Pairs or small groups are fairly common in the upper subtropical and temperate zones in the Andes, from around 2,400-3,400m. They forage at all levels of forest and edge, often following mixed-species flocks.

Asian Woolly-necked Stork
Ciconia episcopus
A dark-brown stork with green-bronze iridescence on the wings and breast. It has a distinctive white ruffled neck, a white tail, and a dark salmon-tipped bill. Resident and migrant. Individuals and small groups forage in rivers, shallow wetland margins, urban grassy areas, and flooded grasslands for insects and small vertebrates. May gather in groups of several hundred when conditions are suitable.

Yellow-throated Warbler
Setophaga dominica
A slender, long-billed warbler with distinctive pattern. Look for yellow throat, black mask, and black streaks on sides. All plumages are very similar; females and immatures often show a light buffy wash on the sides. Forages like a nuthatch, often creeping along branches and hanging upside-down. Fairly common breeder in mature forests with large sycamores or pines. Winters from the southeastern U.S. to Central America and the Caribbean, often in palm trees. Listen for sweet descending song with sharper notes at the end.

Morningbird
Pachycephala tenebrosa
A rather small, mostly drab passerine. Male has a brownish-olive body with a darker hood and chest and a thick dark bill. Female is mostly drab brownish-olive. Dwells on the ground and in forest understory in deep primary forest. Similar to Dusky White-eye but larger, with a thicker bill. Smaller and paler than Micronesian Starling, with a dark eye. Song includes a varied mix of whistler-like staccato chirps, whistles, and rasps.
