Red-necked Amazon
Amazona arausiaca
A chunky and gregarious resident of wet upland forests; often found in flocks of up to 15 birds. Its green body, bluish head, and orange-red spot on upper chest readily separates this species from the Imperial Parrot, the only other parrot sharing its range, as well as parrot species commonly kept in captivity. The largely blue underwing, often seen in flight, is also distinctive. Calls include a shrill “chur-lu-weeek” with the final note louder and higher pitched, plus a shrill, almost trilled, “cureeek.”
识别特征
The red-necked amazon gets its name because of its orange and reddish feathers found on its lower throat.<p>The bird also sometimes has blue feathers on its forehead, around the eyes and its head. Although, the blue feathers verge to wither away to gray feathers at its upper breast. The rest of its body is covered in deep bottle green feathers and a wide band of yellow color runs down to the tip of its tail. The beak and feet are both grey. These birds average about 40 cm in length and can weigh between 550 and 650 g.

Plain-colored Tanager
Tangara inornata
Well-named, plain gray with black wings and dark mask. Iridescent blue-purple shoulder is usually not visible. Most similar to Palm Tanager but grayer (not olive) without pale patch at base of primaries. Also could be confused with Blue-gray Tanager in poor light, but Plain-colored's dark wings are more contrasting. Sexes alike. Seen in pairs or small flocks in open woody habitats like forest edges or shrubby second growth.
Usambara Double-collared Sunbird
Cinnyris usambaricus
A medium-sized sunbird. Males are colorful, green and red, and females drab olive-brownish. Males have yellow shoulder tufts that are usually hidden. Found in montane forest, forest edge, and gardens. Similar to other double-collared sunbirds, but separated by range. Female is plainer than female Banded and Amani Sunbirds, with a longer bill. The calls include “tsik” and “tseet” notes, and the song is a long, rapid jumble.
Montane Woodcreeper
Lepidocolaptes lacrymiger
Fairly small and slender woodcreeper found in Andean subtropical zone from Venezuela to Bolivia. Warm brown overall, with rufous wings and tail. Distinct white streaking on underparts, white throat, and white eyebrow. Note slender, obviously decurved bill, which is useful to separate Montane from other woodcreepers in range. Fairly common in mossy cloud forest, where it frequently follows mixed species flocks. Like other woodcreepers, hitches up tree trunks and large limbs.
