Chestnut-collared Swallow
Petrochelidon rufocollaris
Handsome swallow restricted to relatively dry regions of western Ecuador and western Peru. Plumage is blue and white with chestnut collar, breast band, sides, rump, and forehead. Similar to Cliff Swallow, which is a rare migrant within the range of Chestnut-collared, but note the chestnut breast band and lack of white on the forehead. Most often encountered around cities and towns, where it nests colonially in the eaves of buildings.

White-crowned Tapaculo
Scytalopus atratus
A standard Scytalopus tapaculo: plain blackish (darker than many other tapaculos) with browner flanks and rump. Distinctive white crown can be difficult to see. Acts like a mouse, scurrying around on or near the ground within montane forest. Very difficult to see. Occurs in the Andes from Venezuela to Peru, from around 900-1,800m. Far more often heard than seen. Listen for its rapid series of froglike notes.

Dull-mantled Antbird
Sipia laemosticta
Medium-sized antbird with plump body and short tail. Gray body and brown back. Look for red eye and small white spots on shoulder. Female similar to male but slightly paler. Found inside forest, always close to the ground and usually in gullies near streams. Usually in pairs. Song is a good clue to its presence: listen for high, thin whistles, the first few higher and the last several dropping in pitch.

Asian Brown Flycatcher
Muscicapa dauurica
Plain brown flycatcher with a large-eyed appearance. Note bright white eyering and unmarked throat and underparts. Appears shorter- and plainer-winged than other similar brownish flycatchers. Favors broadleaf forests; also found in more open habitats on migration and wintering grounds. Sallies from exposed perches; cocks tail and flicks wings when perched. Song comprises high buzzy trilling and whistles. Calls include dry rattling and chittering.
