Brujo Flycatcher

Small earthcreeper with long tail and curved bill. Inhabits the ground and low vegetation in dense Chaco spiny woodlands and shrubby slopes, where it generally forages alone. Both sexes have uniform orangish-brown plumage. Note the white throat and the dark supercilium. Feeds on small insects and caterpillars gleaned out of the ground. Voice is a series of 5–10 loud notes increasing in volume.

An active little bird that inhabits reeds and tall grasses in low-lying wetlands. Flicks its tail often to reveal white feathers with black edges and tips. The male has a black hood with a neat border along the collar, white underparts, and a red patch on the breast. Its back is black in the breeding season and brown with streaks in the nonbreeding season. The female is grayish-brown with an indistinct supercilium and a white throat. Both sexes similar to Common Stonechat, but female White-tailed Stonechat is paler, while the male appears whiter below and shows the white in the tail when flicked or in flight.

Large cinnamon-colored ovenbird with piercing yellow eyes and a long gray crest. Found in gallery forest, near marshes and woodlands; often near human habitations. Mostly forages on the ground, but also in trees; builds a large stick nest. Song is a loud duet: an accelerating series ending with a rattle mixed with “chew” notes.
