Short-tailed Parrotbill
Suthora davidiana
A tiny pingpong ball of a bird, this parrotbill flits amongst bamboo stands, usually in hilly mixed forest. Tends to be quiet and retiring but can small roving flocks often be detected by chattering twitter. Small and brownish overall, with a black throat and an orange-toned head. Short tail (unusual amongst parrotbills) gives it a bulbous-headed appearance.

Dulit Frogmouth
Batrachostomus harterti
Large frogmouth of Borneo’s central mountains. Inhabits foothill forest (typically 600–1230 m). Heavyset, with a whiskered face and bright white spots on the wings. Similar Large Frogmouth is generally found at lower elevations; Dulit has broader (as opposed to Large’s sharply triangular) white wing spots, strong pale barring on the throat, and overall darker coloration. Song is a low, resonant, melancholy-sounding “hooooo’m”; call consists of barks, typically given in pairs: “woo’WUP!”.

Eurasian Crag-Martin
Ptyonoprogne rupestris
A large, compact, and powerful martin, gray-brown above, with contrasting dark "armpits." Tail is square with white windows prominent when spread. Vigorous, fast, and powerful flier, constantly twisting and turning as it patrols the sides of mountains and gorges. Frequently gives a hard, dry “chrrt.”

Dimorphic Jewel-babbler
Ptilorrhoa geislerorum
A medium-sized, long-tailed, ground-dwelling bird of lowland and foothill forest. White throat and upper chest, bordered by a thin black line across the chest and a broad black band through the eye. Largely replaces the very similar Blue Jewel-babbler geographically, but Dimorphic female has unique brown plumage with a pale brown stripe behind the eye and male has a gray crown. Overlaps with Chestnut-backed but that species is both blue and brown. Song, a monotonously repeated, medium-pitch note.
