Green Mango
Anthracothorax viridis
A large dark green hummingbird of montane woodlands that often appears black. Within its range, only the Antillean Mango and Green-throated Carib are similar in size and shape. Green-throated Carib and male Antillean Mangos have black, not green, bellies. Female and immature Antillean Mangos have largely gray underparts unlike the Green Mango’s green underparts. Calls include a thin, high twitter, a sharp high "tsip".
识别特征
The green mango is 11 to 14 cm (4.3 to 5.5 in) long and weighs about 7 g (0.25 oz). The sexes are alike except that the female has a tiny white spot behind the eye. Adults' upperparts are emerald green, their underparts metallic blue-green, and their tail metallic blue-black with white tips to its feathers. Immatures have a brownish tinge to the head and back.

The green mango is found only on Puerto Rico. It primarily inhabits forests and plantations in the central and western mountains and is most common between 800 and 1,200 m (2,600 and 3,900 ft) of elevation. It is rare in coastal areas.

The green mango makes altitudinal movements in response to seasonal changes in the timing of flowering.<p>The green mango feeds on both nectar and arthropods. It takes nectar from a wide variety of flowering trees, shrubs, and vines, and males defend flowering trees. Insects are mostly taken on the wing and spiders from leaves and bark. It forages from the low understory to above tree-top level.<p>The green mango's nesting season spans from October to May. It makes a cup nest of soft plant fiber with lichen on the outside. It is attached to a vertical branch, usually at least 8 m (26 ft) above the ground. The clutch size is two eggs. The incubation period and time to fledging are not known.<p>The green mango is not highly vocal. It does have a song, "a repeated high-pitched phrase commencing with a drawn-out buzz, 'szzzzz-szi-szi-chup-tsz-tsz.....'." Its calls include "a repeated short 'tsik' and a high-pitched twittering trill." It makes harsh rattles and chatters during agonistic encounters.

Chunky, dark gray bird with a dark face. Dark face patch is more extensive on males than females; males on Sumatra have entirely black heads. Inhabits moist foothill and montane forest. Moves through the upper levels of forest, often with other species in mixed flocks. Gives various high squeaky calls, including an inflected “weee-tee!”.
Macgregor's Honeyeater
Macgregoria pulchra
A huge distinctive honeyeater of high montane forests and shrubbery. Plump shape and almost entirely black with large orange wattles on the head and orange wing feathers which are very obvious in flight. A territorial and fruit-eating species that is very obvious and easy to see. Smoky Honeyeaters have a similar color scheme but are much smaller. Call is a quiet, fairly high-pitch “cheeep!” note that sounds like it should come from a smaller bird. Also, a series of quicker “chip” notes.
Rufous Shrikethrush
Colluricincla rufogaster
A chunky bird with a thick pale bill. Shows lots of geographical variation, ranging from mostly rich rufous birds in southern New Guinea to birds that are gray on the back and buffy below, often with a paler throat and/or vague streaking on the underparts, in the Australian portion of the range. Found at low elevations in a variety of moist forest, including secondary forest, gallery forest, swamp forest, and mangroves. Rich, melodious, variable song consists of several penetrating whistles. A classic pattern is several accelerating whistles, followed by a couple of upslurred notes. Calls include “chak” notes and whiny nasal notes. Similar to Gray Shrikethrush, but found in denser habitats, and appears smaller, shorter-tailed, and browner overall, with buffy underparts. Also similar to Rusty Pitohui, but smaller, with a dark rather than pale eye.
