African Pied Wagtail
Motacilla aguimp
The only black-and-white wagtail in Africa shows a bold white eyebrow and wing panels and a broad black throat patch. The juvenile is brownish. Pairs and family groups frequent a broad range of habitats, including human-altered environments, but in drier areas they are associated with waterside habitats. The species runs on the ground foraging for insects, characteristically wagging its tail up and down in an exaggerated motion. The juvenile African Pied Wagtail may resemble the Cape Wagtail, but has extensive white panels in the wings.
识别特征
A striking black and white wagtail with black upperparts contrasting with white underparts, it has a white supercilium and a white patch in the folded wing. Juvenile birds are greyer, while birds of the nominate subspecies show grey flanks. They are 20 cm (7.9 in) long.

The African pied wagtail is found in sub-Saharan Africa from the Eastern Cape north to extreme southern Egypt and from Guinea to western Eritrea and Somalia. It is a vagrant to Burkina Faso, Gambia, Mauritania, and the Western Cape. The African pied wagtail inhabits subtropical or tropical, seasonally wet or flooded, lowland grassland, rivers, and sometimes freshwater marshes. In some areas, it is commensal with humans in towns and villages.

Anchieta's Barbet
Stactolaema anchietae
A mid-sized brown barbet with pale yellow covering the head and chin. Immature is duller than the adult, with some yellow facial skin and pale coloration on the bill. Has a paler head, smaller wing patches and higher-pitched call than the similar Whyte’s Barbet. It is a low-density resident in Miombo (Brachystegia) woodland, favoring riverine areas with fruiting fig and sugar plum trees. Song a nasal “hooo-hooo-hooo” which often reveals its presence.
Rufous Crab Hawk
Buteogallus aequinoctialis
Large, chunky hawk of coastal forests, especially mangroves. Adult is mostly dark gray and rusty and is unmistakable in coastal habitat. Brown-and-white immature closely resembles immature Great Black Hawk but has more mottled and less clean-cut appearance. Sits on low perches and pounces on crabs. Tends to be conspicuous and often confiding, allowing close approach.
Gray-bellied Shrike-Tyrant
Agriornis micropterus
Large but rather plain and often local flycatcher of semiopen and open scrubby habitats in drier regions of the Andes and Patagonia. Perches prominently atop bushes, trees, and wires. Runs well on ground, chasing down small lizards and other prey. Distinguished by overall drab plumage with grayish belly and vent, blackish tail, and stout bill. Compare with Great Shrike-Tyrant, which has limited range overlap.
