Gray-bellied Shrike-Tyrant

Agriornis micropterus

Large but rather plain and often local flycatcher of semiopen and open scrubby habitats in drier regions of the Andes and Patagonia. Perches prominently atop bushes, trees, and wires. Runs well on ground, chasing down small lizards and other prey. Distinguished by overall drab plumage with grayish belly and vent, blackish tail, and stout bill. Compare with Great Shrike-Tyrant, which has limited range overlap.

Chroicocephalus genei

Medium-sized gull with a long, slender bill. Breeding adult has a clean white head and dark red bill, and frequently shows a strong rosy-pink flush to the underparts. Non-breeding adult similar, but may show slight smudge on the head. Immature has orange bill with small brown patches on the wings, most readily seen in flight. Compare with Black-headed Gull; note Slender-billed's longer bill, sloping forehead, and "snouty" profile. Breeds in colonies in inland and coastal wetlands, but restricted to coastal wetlands when not breeding. Away from main range, found singly or in pairs, at times in association with much commoner Black-headed Gull.

Large gray parrot with a white face and red tail. The tail is bright red in most of the range, but brick red in the western part of the range. Main habitat is lowland and mid-elevation forest, but will sometimes also use gallery forest, secondary forest, mangroves, and cultivated areas, especially oil palm. Found in pairs or small groups. Very similar to Timneh Parrot, but little or no overlap in range, and separated by the bright red rather than brick red tail, as well as the black rather than pinkish top of the bill.Gives a wide variety of loud vocalizations including whistles, bell-like notes, and screeches.

Large, frequently encountered parrot of woodlands, savannas, and open areas. The body is bright green with a blue forehead and a yellow crown. The amount of yellow on the head varies between individuals and regions; some having mostly yellow faces. The amount of red or yellow on the shoulders also varies. In flight shows large red patches on the inner wings.
