White-tailed Cisticola
Cisticola anderseni
A relatively colorful medium-sized, long-tailed cisticola. The center of the tail is blackish, but the tips and edges are white. Also note the gray-brown back with thick black streaks, rufous on the wing and cap, and whitish underparts. Found very locally in and around the Kilombero Swamp in tall grass and reedbeds. The common vocalizations are a series of several squeaky notes in quick succession, and a very fast dry trill. Similar to Winding Cisticola, but separated by the white edges to the tail.

Papyrus Canary
Crithagra koliensis
This canary is typical in its appearance but unusual in its papyrus-dwelling habits. The male and female are similar but the male is more boldly marked, especially on the face. Found in papyrus swamp and adjacent habitats. Uncommon and inconspicuous. The song is a complex mix of quiet twitters and whistles. Similar to Western Citril, but separated by the lack of a yellow eyebrow. Extremely similar to Southern Citril, and best separated by the more bulging, pinkish bill.

Striking hummingbird with extremely long tail. Male is mostly emerald green with blue-green throat. Long forked tail is iridescent purple and blue. Female is much different but still distinctive with her orange belly and white breast. Found in the foothills and subtropical zones of the Andes, from around 900–2,000 m, only in western Ecuador and Colombia. Usually forages low in forest or at the forest edge. Visits feeders.

Big-headed chunky antbird with a heavy and slightly hooked bill and shortish tail. Found in the lower and middle levels of forests and forest edges. Males have a gray head and and a white spotted face and are olive-brown above and yellowish below.They have dark spots on the throat, and white spots on the wings coverts. Females have a rufous crown and less distinct spots on the wings coverts. The song is a melodious series of ascending and descending notes.
