Bornean Black Magpie
Platysmurus aterrimus
Glossy black bird with a long tail, a heavy hooked bill, and a weak tuft of a crest. Inhabits lowland and foothill forests. Moves in pairs and flocks, calling to keep in contact. Sometimes moves with mixed-species flocks. Vocalizations are quite variable, and include a fast series of short rasping notes, as well as various strange whistled notes, often with a musical-instrument-like quality. Formerly grouped with Malayan Black Magpie under the more generic “Black Magpie.”
识别特征
The magpie is about 43 cm in length. It has all-black plumage with a long, broad and graduated tail, a stout black bill, a tall, bristly crest, black legs and feet, and red irises. It has a taller crest than, and lacks the white wing patch of, the nominate subspecies.

The Bornean black magpie was formerly considered a distinctive subspecies of the black magpie, but more recent revisions now consider it a full species, Platysmurus aterrimus.

The magpie is found in the lowlands of Borneo, ranging in altitude up to about 300 m above sea level. It inhabits primary forest, including dipterocarp, kerangas and peat swamp forest, and is also found in secondary forest, overgrown tree plantations and scrub.

Mishana Tyrannulet
Zimmerius villarejoi
Uncommon flycatcher with a highly restricted range in northern Peru. It is known from white sand forest near Iquitos and from Andean foothills in the vicinity of the cities of Moyobamba and Tarapoto. Plumage is mostly yellowish-olive with a pale bill and eye and yellow fringes to the wing feathers. Very similar to Red-billed Tyrannulet, but usually shows an olive (not gray) crown; voice is a more reliable way to separate the two species. Listen for a high, piping whistle given alone or in pairs. Calls have a rasping quality in the lowland part of the range. Inhabits forest canopy.
Marsh Seedeater
Sporophila palustris
A small finchlike bird. Males have a gray hood and back with a rusty belly that contrasts with white plumage extending from the cheeks to the breast. The “zelichi” morph is deep brown above and below with a black cap and a white breast and head. Females are olive-brown above and buff below. Both sexes have a white wing spot. Inhabits marshy areas with tall mature grasses; can be found in flocks with others seedeaters during migration.
Upcher's Warbler
Hippolais languida
A medium-sized, gray-brown warbler that looks very similar to other species. Note the rather stout bill and broad dark tail. Smaller and browner than Olive-tree Warbler and larger than Eastern Olivaceous Warbler. Wing panel is not as prominent as that of Olive-tree Warbler. Breeds on scrubby hillsides and river valleys; occasionally in flatter lowlands. During non-breeding season, found in a variety of wooded or brushy habitats. Sings from prominent perches—a repetitive, rapid mix of musical and scratchy phrases. Call is a harsh "chak."
