Zenker's Honeyguide
Melignomon zenkeri
An infrequently encountered honeyguide of forests and forest edge. Overall olive-green to green in coloration, with upperparts darker than underparts and the brightest green in the wings. Vent is pale with hints of streaking, and tail has white outer feathers with dark tips. Similar to Cassin’s Honeyguide, but note Zenker’s larger bill, larger size, darker throat, and dark-tipped tail. Overlaps locally with Yellow-footed Honeyguide in Cameroon, but Zenker’s Honeyguide has duskier legs and a darker throat, and where the two overlap, Zenker’s is often found at lower elevations. Vocalizations are little known, but the song apparently consists of repeated typical honeyguide “tjee” notes that slowly rise in pitch before peaking and gradually descending in pitch, given at a rate of 1-2 notes per second for up to 20 seconds.

Lined Seedeater
Sporophila lineola
Very small finchlike bird with a short stubby bill. Males are mostly black with a white belly. Note the male’s white crown and large white mustache. Females are dull and plain brown and are difficult to separate from the Lesson’s Seedeater of Amazonia. Found in grasslands and shrubby areas; often seen in large flocks, especially on migration.

Cheer Pheasant
Catreus wallichii
A large, pale pheasant with a long tail, an untidy crest, and red skin around the eye. The male is pale gray, barred throughout, with thick black bands on the tail, a rust-colored lower back, and a dark belly. The female is browner with white streaks on the body, white bars on the tail, a rust-colored belly, and black spots on the breast. Shy, often found in small groups along steep, grassy hillsides in the Himalayas. Quite noisy, usually delivering a series of thin and scratchy notes.

Marquesan Ground Dove
Pampusana rubescens
A rotund, short-legged ground-dwelling dove that usually runs rather than flies when startled. Slate-gray belly contrasts with paler gray chest and head, and with purplish shoulders and back. No similar species occur in its range. Apparently rarely vocal, but has been heard giving a snarling sound.
