Sula Lorikeet
Trichoglossus flavoviridis
Vibrantly beautiful small lorikeet with a bright red bill and extensive golden-yellow “scaling” on the breast. Leaf-green back separated sharply from yellow head by a vertical dark bar. Large, pale bare patch around the eye give this parrot a somewhat “crazy” expression. Endemic to the Sula Archipelago, where it wanders foothill forests and more open areas in flocks, often gathering at fruiting and flowering trees. Bright yellow markings and overall shape distinguish this species from racquet-tails, hanging-parrots, and Tanygnathus parrots. Gives high-pitched shrieking calls. Formerly lumped in with Yellow-cheeked Lorikeet under the name “Yellow-and-green Lorikeet.”
识别特征
The Sula lorikeet is a mainly green parrot about 20 cm (8.0 in) long. Its bill is orange. In the nominate subspecies the head and chest are yellow, the latter narrowly scaled with green, and the lores and region near the bill are dark, often appearing almost blackish.
分类信息
This species was formerly placed in the genus Trichoglossus but was moved to a newly introduced genus Saudareos based on the results of a molecular genetic analysis of the lorikeets published in 2020. It was formerly considered conspecific with the yellow-cheeked lorikeet and collectively called the citrine lorikeet.

Masked Cardinal
Paroaria nigrogenis
Unmistakable tricolored bird, with bold red, black, and white patches. Red hood and throat, black mask, mostly black back and tail, and white underparts. Sexes similar. Often found in groups of juveniles and adults near water in riverine forests, scrub, and savanna, mostly in lowlands. Song a clear “FEEup-feep! Fueet-feeut! Fueet-feep feep.” Formerly considered conspecific with the very similar Red-capped Cardinal, but no range overlap.
Subalpine Robin
Petroica bivittata
A small bird of upper montane forest canopy. Black upperparts and bib with white belly extending to the sides of the chest, and white forehead spot. Note the white edging to the flight feathers and corners to the tail. Female is slightly duller. Somewhat similar to White-winged Robin, but Subalpine has a white rather than black belly. Song is a series of chipping notes changing pitch up and down slightly.

Heliobletus contaminatus
Small foliage-gleaner with a short pointed bill and long tail. Found in the canopy of montane forests including Araucaria forests where it acrobatically gleans epiphytic vegetation. Dark-brown on the back with a buffy-yellow eyebrow and collar, a heavily streaked breast, and a rufous tail. Usually follows mixed-species flocks. The song is a sharp, high rattle.
