Yellow-vented Green-Pigeon
Treron seimundi
A rather dark green pigeon with black-tipped olive-green wings and a long needle-pointed tail. Both sexes have a white patch low on the belly and a lemon-yellow vent. Pin-tailed Green-Pigeon is similarly long-tailed, but lighter in color with warm tinges of yellowish-orange on the breast and brighter yellow wing feathers. Like many other green-pigeons, generally forages quite high in the forest canopy. Inhabits montane and foothill forests; occasionally in coastal lowlands. Generally uncommon to rare throughout its range. Gives a melodious, jumbled series of resonant and rather high-pitched cooing whistles.

Common Miner
Geositta cunicularia
Widespread but often local in open areas typically with sandy soil from Patagonian steppe to coastal dunes to bogs in the high Andes; often less common than other miners in the same areas. Often seen in pairs, walking with a waddling gait and pumping its tail like most miners. Best identified by distinct breast streaking, relatively long and very slightly decurved bill, and (in flight) bright rusty wing patches. Northern populations also have contrasting creamy white rump. Song varies geographically.

Rufescent Tiger-Heron
Tigrisoma lineatum
This medium-sized heron is found around swamps, marshes, and sluggish streams at lower elevations. Usually seen singly. Adults are distinctive with their bright rufous head and neck. Juveniles are buffy with uneven black barring. Juveniles essentially identical to juvenile Fasciated Tiger-Heron, but note different habitat.

Chestnut-winged Foliage-gleaner
Dendroma erythroptera
Gray-brown foliage-gleaner with reddish wings and tail. Face and throat washed with dull yellow, with a faint eyeline; this is unlike many other foliage-gleaners which have a clear eyebrow or throat patch. Usually forages fairly high in the midstory and canopy of mature rainforest, often with mixed species flocks. Many foliage-gleaners have reddish wings; look for reddish wings contrasting with grayish body and tawny ochraceous face and throat in this species.
