Golden-bellied Euphonia
Euphonia chrysopasta
Yellow euphonia of lowland rainforest. Males are rich golden-yellow with a light gray nape and prominent white lores; females are similar but with gray underparts. Compared to similar female euphonias, look for the pale patch around the bill and yellow undertail coverts; never shows an orange wash as in other species. Prefers open forest habitats, like young rainforest and forest clearings, but also found sometimes within mature rainforest. Gives a variety of calls, including a short series of high whistles and chips, and a smooth “dwick” call.

Tawny-headed Swallow
Alopochelidon fucata
Diminutive swallow of grasslands and savanna, particularly near water, where it occurs on its own or in small groups. Note the cinnamon head and breast contrasting with a brown back and white belly. Told from the larger Southern Rough-winged Swallow by the cinnamon head and darker rump.

Small, round, long-tailed canastero of dense understory in upper humid montane forest along the east slope of the Andes in central and NW Bolivia. Fairly common throughout range, and very inquisitive. Black throat, plump figure,and long thin raggedy tail distinctive in range. Song a fast, accelerating series of high squeaks.
Golden-billed Saltator
Saltator aurantiirostris
Scarce and local in the Andean foothills of extreme northern Chile, but widespread in much of southern South America. Favors brushy hedgerows and scrubby thickets, usually in villages and around agricultural terraces. Sexes look similar and bold face pattern is distinctive, in combination with big orange bill. Juvenile has a dusky bill and duller face pattern, but soon attains adult appearance. Loud bright song can draw attention, but often sings from a concealed perch.
