Yellow-green Tanager
Bangsia flavovirens
A rare and easily-overlooked bird restricted to wet foothill forest in the Andes of western Colombia and northwestern Ecuador. Plumage is almost uniform yellow-olive with a slightly darker face; throat may appear slightly yellower, but never as bright as Yellow-throated Chlorospingus. Usually encountered in pairs or small groups at middle to upper forest levels, and sometimes joins mixed-species flocks.

The yellow-green tanager (Bangsia flavovirens) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It was formerly known as the yellow-green bush tanager or yellow-green chlorospingus as it used to be placed in the genus Chlorospingus with other bush tanagers. Chlorospingus as a whole was formerly placed in the tanager family Thraupidae, but was transferred to the New World sparrows when genetic analysis of two Chlorospingus species revealed they were embedded within the latter family. However, more recently, molecular analysis of additional Chlorospingus species found that the yellow-green tanager is not a member of Chlorospingus (or any other New World sparrow) but a true tanager after all, most closely related to the blue-and-gold tanager, so the species was returned to Thraupidae and placed in the genus Bangsia. The yellow-green tanager is found in Colombia and Ecuador. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Luzon Racquet-tail
Prioniturus montanus
A medium-sized parrot of montane forest on Luzon. The two central tail feathers have extended shafts ending in a racket shape. Overall green in color, darker on the back and paler below. Male has a blue face and a red crown. The similar Green Racquet-tail may overlap geographically, but Luzon is usually found at higher elevations and has a darker back. Voice includes various grating calls and shrill squeals.
Atoll Starling
Aplonis feadensis
A medium-sized, uniformly black starling with a glossy purplish and bluish sheen. In flight looks rather pot-bellied. Eye distinctively pale yellow. Juvenile uniformly sooty brown, scaly beneath. Found in forest and coconut groves on remote atolls. Similar to Singing Starling, but distinguished by pale eye of adult and scaling instead of streaking on belly of juvenile. Common call is a loud rising “weee-eeee.” Also gives a soft chattering.
Green Manakin
Cryptopipo holochlora
Scarce and inconspicuous rainforest bird found along the lower slopes of the eastern Andes and adjacent lowlands. Both male and female have uniform olive-green plumage and may show a very faint, pale eyering. Very similar to female Jet Manakin, but brighter, lacking dusky tones. Separated from females of other manakins by its longer tail and grayish legs. Usually remains quiet, but occasionally gives a thin, rising whistle or a short, metallic trill.
