Luzon Racquet-tail
Prioniturus montanus
A medium-sized parrot of montane forest on Luzon. The two central tail feathers have extended shafts ending in a racket shape. Overall green in color, darker on the back and paler below. Male has a blue face and a red crown. The similar Green Racquet-tail may overlap geographically, but Luzon is usually found at higher elevations and has a darker back. Voice includes various grating calls and shrill squeals.

It inhabits tropic moist montane forest at 700–2,900 meters above sea level. Has been to known to visit cultivated areas.<p>IUCN has assessed this bird as near threatened with its population being estimated as 1,500 to 7,000 mature individuals. . Forest loss is a threat but it is not thought to have as significant impact within this species's alititudinal range as compared to lowland forest. Its lowland counterpart the Green racket-tail is considered much more threatened being listed as endangered with many local extinctions. Many parrots in the region are affected by trapping for trade, but its impacts upon this species are not known.<p>It is recommended to gather data on the impacts of international and national trade. Undergo surveys to have a better population estimate. Calculate rates of forest loss within its altitudinal and geographic range using satellite imagery and remote sensing techniques. Gracula ptilogenys
Rotund, medium-sized black starling with yellow wattles on the nape, a stout, bicolored bill, and white flashes in the wing. Typically in small groups in the canopy of hill forest, and nearby gardens and woods. Note dark-based, bicolored bill, and only two wattles restricted to the nape, unlike similar Southern Hill Myna. Calls include a strident, downslurred “chewp”, given once or repeatedly, shorter in length than Southern Hill Myna. Also gives various rasping notes.
Puerto Rican Vireo

A small, noisy inhabitant of woodlands including mangrove swamps and shade coffee plantations; often feeds low, near ground. This relatively plain species has a grayish head and chest that contrasts with a yellow-washed belly. The White-eyed Vireo looks passingly similar, but has bold white wingbars and a yellow spot in front of the eyes. The Caribbean Elaenia has whitish wingbars and is usually found perched upright or flycatching. Puerto Rican Vireos sing “chuwee-chuweech-you,” “Chewee-wit-weee,” or variations therein. Its calls include a plaintive “zhe, zhe, zhe…” and an emphatic “djuh.”
Indian Roller

A brightly colored bird with various shades of blue on the wings, tails, and belly that are often more prominent in flight. Note the longitudinal white streaks on the throat and breast. Indochinese Roller has a purple-blue breast, a darker olive back, and is generally darker blue. Generally silent, but more vocal in breeding season with harsh calls. Prefers open areas, including agricultural landscapes, sitting on exposed perches including electric wires, occasionally pumping its tail slowly. Practically a resident roller with some movements in the western parts of its range.
