Black-collared Barbet
Lybius torquatus
A chunky, medium-sized barbet with a yellowish belly; a red face is raggedly edged with a bold black cowl and breast band. In some forms the face is instead white or yellow. Pairs are resident in the canopy and mid-strata of a variety of open and closed woodlands, riverine forest, and cultivated areas, where they glean fruit and insects. Pairs sing a colorful and characteristic duet, “two-pudley, two-pudley, two-pudley”, that can go on for a minute or more. The similar Brown-breasted Barbet differs by having a broad brown breast band and a pale bill. Red-faced Barbet has black underparts.
识别特征
The black-collared barbet usually is about 20–25 cm long, plump-looking and has a large head. It also has the heavy bill fringed with bristles that is characteristic of the genus Lybius. This barbet has a very obvious black collar and head which gives reference to its name. It also has a fire-engine red coloring around the eyes and beak. It has morphologically variable coloring because there is a replacement of a red head with a black head. It also has a more intense color and is larger than other barbets. This bird is also sexually monomorphic, which means that there is generally no phenotypic difference between the males and females of this species. The morphology, size and behavior are basically the same.

Togian Golden-Bulbul
Hypsipetes aureus
A thrush-sized songbird with a long powerful bill, an olive head and upperparts, a dark eye, and uniform yellow underparts. Juveniles duller and pale-eyed. Occurs in forest and plantations within the lowlands and foothills, typically in small groups. Restricted to the Togian Islands. Larger-bodied and heavier-billed than Citrine Canary-Flycatcher and Golden-bellied Gerygone. Gregarious and noisy, with loud vocalizations consisting of a complex combination of whistles, rasping calls, and warbles, often introduced with “chup” nasal notes.

Temminck's Courser
Cursorius temminckii
Elegant, long-legged, upland shorebird. Note the rufous crown and black patch on the belly. Shows a completely black wing in flight. Found in very open areas such as short grassland, semi-desert, and overgrazed and recently burned areas. Usually seen in pairs or family groups. Like all coursers, ducks the head and runs across the ground at great speed. Call is a mournful, off-key, up-and-down series. All-rufous crown, black belly patch, and all-black wing are not shown by the area’s other coursers.

Lineated Woodpecker
Dryocopus lineatus
Large ‘woody woodpecker’ of tropical forest in lowlands and foothills. Also ranges into semi-open areas with tall trees, mangroves, and other lightly wooded habitats. The tufted red crest and black face distinguish it from adult Pale-billed Woodpecker, which often occurs in the same areas. Also note that the white ‘braces’ on the back of Lineated are widely spaced, unlike Pale-billed. Laughing call suggests a flicker, and very unlike calls of Pale-billed.
