Rufous-headed Parrotbill
Paradoxornis bakeri
A short-tailed parrotbill with a bulbous orange head, found in hill and submontane forests. Brown above and white below. Very similar in appearance to the smaller Pale-billed Parrotbill; look for the latter’s short black eyebrow. Confusingly, both species are often found alongside one another in mixed flocks, typically with White-hooded Babblers. Gives chirps, squeaks, and mews frequently as it moves through bamboo thickets; also gives a distinct song composed of whistled notes.

The rufous-headed parrotbill was alternatively considered as a member of the Old World babblers family, Timaliidae, or in the Sylviidae, but it actually seems to belong to the distinct family Paradoxornithidae. It was formerly considered as conspecific with the white-breasted parrotbill.

Falcated Duck
Mareca falcata
An East Asian teal-like duck. Males are distinctive, with an iridescent head that flashes green and copper, a silvery body with distinct scalloping, extremely long curved tertials, long pale scapulars, and a triangular white throat patch outlined in dark green. Brownish females resemble female Gadwall but have a dark bill. Breeds in northern interior marshes and winters on rivers, lakes, and coastal wetlands, often in flocks with other ducks.
Sickle-winged Guan

Large chickenlike bird, but small for a guan. Distinctive: mostly brown with contrasting rufous belly and bright blue facial skin around red eye. Found in subtropical zones on both slopes of Andes, from Colombia to Bolivia. Rather unobtrusive and quiet; can be difficult to spot as it perches in the middle and upper levels of the forest. Often in pairs or small groups.
Pale-vented Bush-hen
Amaurornis moluccana
Very secretive medium-sized rail that inhabits dense vegetation around wetland habitats in northern and northeastern Australia. Rarely seen away from cover. Dull gray-blue body, brown wings and tail, with reddish-brown undertail, yellow-green bill with small shield, and long yellow legs. Gives a variety of calls, usually a loud, repeated, squawky "wark-wark-wark" or an agitated "wark-woop, wark-woop, wark-woop."
