Yellow-browed Tody-Flycatcher
Todirostrum chrysocrotaphum
Tiny, boldly colored flycatcher of lowland rainforest. Black and yellow with a boat-shaped bill. Found in the canopy of mature rainforest, often in upland areas; occasionally also found around forest edges, including sometimes around gardens and human dwellings. Listen for its song, a long, steady series of high metallic chips, given at a pace of slightly faster than one note per second.

The range of the yellow-browed tody-flycatcher is mainly in the southern Amazon Basin, and in the east limited by the Amazon River; in the southeast, its range extends eastward including Ilha de Marajo and the last downstream region of only the Tocantins River, of the Araguaia-Tocantins River system. This southeast extension of the range ends in central-(northern) Maranhão state, in the Baia de Sao Marcos region at the Atlantic Ocean.<p>In the western Amazon Basin, it ranges into the southern regions of the northwest Basin, and is limited by the Rio Negro that extends to its upstream tributaries in south-central Colombia.

Hammond's Flycatcher
Empidonax hammondii
Small grayish flycatcher, very similar to other flycatchers, especially Dusky and Gray. Subtle differences include smaller bill with limited pale base, slightly more peaked crown, and longer wingtips. Also note habitat during breeding season: Hammond's prefers mature conifers, often seen higher up in trees than Dusky. Habitat overlaps more with other flycatchers during migration and winter; found in a variety of brushy wooded habitats. Back is greenish with a yellow wash to belly; fall birds in fresh plumage are brighter than spring and summer birds. Voice is key to identification, especially call notes: high-pitched "peek" and whistled "peer." Without an excellent view, silent birds often best left unidentified.
Golden-capped Parakeet
Aratinga auricapillus
Medium-sized parakeet with a long graduated tail. Usually seen in noisy groups in light woodland, savanna, farmland, and even urban areas. The body is mostly green and contrasts with its black bill, yellow crown, red forehead, and reddish belly patch. It has blue flight feathers, but in flight note the prominent orange underwings.

Foulehaio taviunensis
A medium-sized grayish honeyeater with an olive cast to the wings and a bright yellow-orange wattle on the cheek below the eye. Found mainly in mature forest. Absent from coconut plantations and secondary growth. Gives loud, chiming, melodious whistles and bell-like sounds.
