Lesser Noddy
Anous tenuirostris
A small dark tern which appears grayish-black and extremely slender. Very similar to Black and Brown Noddies, but the Lesser Noddy has a very thin bill, is somewhat paler gray overall, and has gray between the bill and the eyes. The flight is fast and graceful, and it often mixes with other terns. Often found offshore, not far from islands in the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean.
识别特征
The lesser noddy is 30–34 cm (12–13 in) in length with a wingspan of 58–63 cm (23–25 in) and a weight of 97–120 g (3.4–4.2 oz). The plumage is brownish black. The forehead and crown are lighter in colour. This species is smaller and slightly paler than the similar black noddy and has pale rather than dark lores.
分类信息
The first formal description of the lesser noddy was by the Dutch zoologist Coenraad Jacob Temminck in 1823 under the binomial name Sterna tenuirostris. The genus Anous was introduced by the English naturalist James Francis Stephens in 1826. Anous is Ancient Greek for "stupid" or "foolish". The specific name tenuirostris is from the Latin tenuis for "slender" and -rostris "-billed".<p>There are two subspecies:

Latham's Snipe
Gallinago hardwickii
Long-billed skulking shorebird of muddy edges in freshwater wetlands. Breeds in Japan and spends the nonbreeding season mainly in eastern Australia. When disturbed it erupts from cover with loud "chek" call and zig-zags away in flight. Can be extremely hard to identify from other Australian snipes (Pin-tailed and Swinhoe's); when possible focus on length of toes trailing behind tail in flight (Latham's has almost no toes projecting behind tail).

Rufous-capped Antthrush
Formicarius colma
Resembles a miniature chicken while walking quietly with a cocked tail on the forest floor. Typically shy and very difficult to see. Note the prominent orange-rufous crown that contrasts with its dark brown body. Juveniles have a black mask, a white chin and throat, and a grayish breast. The song is a long trill increasing in volume towards the end, usually delivered from a slightly raised perch such as a fallen log.

Yellow-throated Honeyeater
Nesoptilotis flavicollis
Medium-large honeyeater with bright yellow throat. Back is olive green, head and breast are gray. Underbody and wings have subtle yellow coloration. Juveniles very similar to adults but are duller and have yellow at the base of the bill. Endemic to Tasmania and some surrounding islands; found in most forest and woodland habitats. Feeds primarily on insects and can often be seen foraging on tree trunks.
