Rosy Minivet
Pericrocotus roseus
Pale, rather washed-out-looking minivet. Male has a white throat, pink breast, and bright red “apostrophe” on the wing. Female replaces male’s red and pink with yellow, but is otherwise similar. Both have prominent dark lores. Usually moves in pairs, but will form flocks outside of the breeding season. Breeds in a wide range of lowland and foothill forests; favors hill and valley forests in the winter. Gives twittering trill in flight.
识别特征
The male is distinguished from other minivets by having a deep pink/light red shade in wings and tail and the female having an olive/olive yellow rump as against bright yellow in other minivets. Both male and female are grey above.

Eastern Bluebird
Sialia sialis
Adult males are striking royal blue above with bright orange throat and breast and bright white belly. Females are paler overall; grayish with orange on breast and sides of neck, and white belly. Favors fields and open woods. Often in small groups. Frequently perches on wires or fence posts. Nests in cavities. Listen for its soft, chortling calls.

Pale-headed Woodpecker
Gecinulus grantia
A bamboo specialist, this is an odd-looking woodpecker with a dark body, sickly-looking pale head, and blood-red patches on the wings. Gives short rapid-fire bursts of drums which, due to the hollow stems of bamboo, often have an odd, reverberating quality. Pale bill is significantly shorter than that of the larger Bay Woodpecker, which seldom drums, if at all.

Blue-chinned Sapphire
Chlorestes notata
Widespread hummingbird, but often overlooked. Appears mostly green with a solidly dark blue tail. If seen in good light, note reddish base of bill and (for male) strong bluish sheen on throat and breast. Female identifiable by extensive green spotting below. Occurs in a variety of habitats including river edges, abandoned plantations and second growth, and patches of savanna woodland. Feeds on nectar and defends patches of flowers from other hummingbirds. Male is similar to male Blue-tailed Emerald but is larger, lacks forked tail and has bluish cast on underparts. Female is somewhat similar to Glittering-throated Emerald but has uniformly spotted breast.
