Tropical Shearwater
Puffinus bailloni
Small shearwater of the tropical Indian and Pacific Oceans, where it breeds on barren and rocky atolls and islets, venturing offshore to feed. Dark blackish brown above and white below; this combination of pattern and size distinctive within range. Similar to Sargasso Shearwater of the Atlantic, which has more extensive white on the face, and somewhat similar to larger Manx Shearwater and smaller Little Shearwater, but Tropical has mottled dark undertail coverts (white in Manx and Little).

The tropical shearwater is found in the tropical parts of the western Indian Ocean from East Africa to southern India and in similar regions of the Pacific from just to the southeast of Japan to French Polynesia.

Lesser Honeyguide
Indicator minor
A small, inconspicuous, gray-green bird with striking white outer tail feathers that are evident in undulating flight. It is easily confused with other honeyguides, but a pale spot on the top of the bill and subtle, darker (moustachial) streaks on either side of the throat are characteristic. Often it is the commonest honeyguide in mixed woodland, cultivation, and pasture; it can be tracked down by following its continuous, strident “swiiit, swiiit, swiiit” calls. The smaller Least Honeyguide is often more heavily streaked underneath, and Pallid Honeyguide has a plainer face and indistinct moustachial streaks; both have differing vocaliations
Pied Heron
Egretta picata
A small and dainty dark gray-and-white heron. Adult has a dark cap with dark plumes creating a distinctive appearance (think "Zorro"). Usually has yellowish legs. Immature lacks the dark crown. Occurs in very large and dense flocks in tropical wetlands.
Fawn-breasted Wren
Cantorchilus guarayanus
A rather nondescript medium-sized wren. Mostly brown above and rusty below, with a white eyebrow and pied streaked cheeks. Skulks in the undergrowth of seasonally flooded forest and second growth, often near water. The similar Buff-breasted Wren has less strongly marked cheeks and a more complex song. Where the two overlap, Fawn-breasted is more likely to be found in wetter habitats.
