Yellow-breasted Fruit-Dove
Ptilinopus occipitalis
A medium-sized dove of lowland and mid-elevation forest canopy. Distinguished by green upperparts, tail, thighs, and sides, gray crown and sides to the neck, yellow breast, maroon patch on the belly, and maroon stripe from the eye around the back of the head. Similar to Flame-breasted Fruit-Dove, but has a yellow rather than orange chest and pale gray in front of the eyes. Song is a deep, downslurred “woo-oo.”

The yellow-breasted fruit dove is one of over 50 species in the genus Ptilinopus. Within the genus, it is most closely allied to the red-eared fruit dove and the Lompobattang fruit dove.<p>The species was formerly placed in the obsolete genus Leucotreron.<p>The species' generic name comes from the Ancient Greek ptilon (feather) and pous (foot), while the specific epithet occipitalis is from Latin, meaning "of the back of the head". Alternative names for the yellow-breasted fruit dove include sulphur-breasted fruit dove.<p>There are two recognised subspecies. However, they are recognised only on the basis on minor differences in size and plumage, and may be better treated as monotypic.

Muisca Antpitta
Grallaria rufula
Plump bird with long legs and a short tail that ranges in the eastern Andes of Colombia, barely reaching over the border into Venezuela. Plumage is chestnut brown with an orange tinge to the breast and slightly paler belly; sometimes shows a faint mustache streak. Skulks in the understory of high elevation elfin forest and usually stays on the ground, but sometimes comes up to a low perch to sing. Common vocalization is a sweet, rising whistle followed by a lower pitched gargle, and also gives a series of flat whistles. It used to be called Rufous Antpitta.
Rufous-bellied Swallow

Brightly-colored swallow found on the Malay Peninsula. Dark iridescent blue above with rusty-orange underparts, rump, and face. Similar to migratory tytleri subspecies of Barn Swallow but lacks its dark blue collar and white tail patches. Like many other swallows, flies over a range of different habitats, from fields to forests; usually in hilly areas.

A fairly large, short-tailed bird of mid-mountane forest canopy in the Foja Mountains. Male is mainly black with white flanks, bronzy-scaled chest and 6 antennalike feathers projecting from the back of the head. Note the blue eye. The female is dull brown above with rufous in the wing, strongly-barred underparts and pale bands above and below the eye. The male dances at a terrestrial display court. There are no other similar birds-of-paradise that co-occur. Vocalizations include loud rasps, rattles or a single or double-note squeak “wi-dik!”.
