Chinese Babax

A dull dark brown white-eye with a distinctive white forecrown, white eye-ring and throat, and pale bill and legs; eyes are also often pale. A local but common resident restricted to Mount Cameroon, found in small groups between 1800 and 2800 meters of elevation. Prefers scrub at forest margins and alpine shrubland. Gives a loud, rolling musical song, “cheet-tee-too-too-twee-too-dee-dzoo” with variations, and other soft calls. Forest White-eye is much brighter than Cameroon Speirops but may occasionally join it in flocks.

Medium-sized hummingbird with restricted range in central Colombia. Distinctive: all green with a contrasting blue crown, white leg puffs, and reddish lower mandible. Occurs in the middle to upper levels of forests, edges, and shrubby gardens from around 1,000 to 2,000 m. Visits feeders.

A variable green-pigeon of subtropical and tropical lowland broadleaf evergreen forests. Ryukyu subspecies readily approachable, sometimes found in parks and gardens; Taiwan subspecies more timid. Ryukyu and Taiwan subspecies sometimes considered separate species, as Taiwan birds are much smaller and have a rufous cap. Similar to White-bellied Green-Pigeon, but feathers around the legs never white, face less yellowish, and white edges of undertail coverts narrower. Song a low, whistling "poo-aa-poooo", rising and trilling at end, recalling a bamboo flute.
