West Solomons Owl

Endemic to Norfolk Island, where occurs alongside the similar Silvereye. Slender-billed is slightly larger, with a longer, thinner bill and plainer plumage, lacking the buff flanks of Silverye. Common throughout the island, where prefers forested areas but can also be found in edge habitats.

Small, compact swallow with dark (glossy dark blue) upperparts, smudgy gray cast on whitish underparts, and bright white rump. Very similar to Northern and Nepal House-Martins, with gray-smudged underparts intermediate between the clean white belly of the former and black sides of the latter. Sometimes mistaken for House Swift when seen from above, but the chunkier shape and broader wings of the swallow are distinctive. Often nests in bustling colonies on cliffs and under the eaves of human-made structures.

Small, long-tailed bird with black moustache and rufous-brown upperparts, found only in the Winton-Opalton area of western Queensland, where it is the only expected grasswren. This species is found in habitat with large spinifex clumps, where it scurries around between clumps. Upperparts rufous-brown, with white throat and pale underparts. Formerly considered a subspecies of Striated Grasswren.
