Yellow-winged Vireo
Vireo carmioli
Small yellowish bird; note bold wingbars and face pattern with short pale eyebrow and arc under the eye. Yellow underparts sometimes bright, sometimes paler whitish, but always some yellow tones. Could be mistaken for a tyrannulet but note thicker bill and more horizontal posture. Usually seen singly or in pairs, following a mixed-species flock through forest, edge, and second growth. Found at relatively high elevations in its limited range. Song is a slow series of short phrases, like a squeaky Yellow-throated Vireo.

Bridled Honeyeater
Bolemoreus frenatus
Medium-sized sooty gray honeyeater. The bright yellow base of the bill is a really obvious feature in an otherwise fairly uniformly dark gray bird. Bridled Honeyeater is found in rainforest in the higher elevations of the Wet Tropics in northern Queensland.

Northern Chestnut-breasted Wren
Cyphorhinus dichrous
Found at higher elevations than other members of its genus. Shy and uncommon denizen of forest undergrowth from 1,100–2,000 m. Chunky and short-tailed, dark brown above with rich rufous neck and breast. Blue eyering. Sexes alike. Could recall an antbird, but especially note pointier bill with a thicker base. Typically found in pairs or small family groups foraging on or near the ground. More easily heard than seen: listen for repeated sets of 2–3 eerie whistled notes stepping up in pitch, with little to no break between each set.

White-throated Daggerbill
Schistes albogularis
Fairly small hummingbird found on the west slope of the Andes from central Colombia to southwestern Ecuador. Both sexes mostly green with short, straight bill. Males have green throat and crown with purplish patches on neck sides and a bold broken white collar. Females have white throat. Inconspicuous; look for singles at flower patches in understory of foothill and subtropical forest and edge, from around 800-2,000 m.
