Yellow-billed Tit-Tyrant
Anairetes flavirostris
Active little bird of scrubby and brushy habitats in drier regions of the Andes and locally in the lowlands of Argentina. Often in pairs, hopping in bushes and weeds and can be difficult to see well. Best identified by bold blackish striping on breast and wispy black crest. Note the base of bill is bright orange (not yellow!), but difficult to see in the field.

The yellow-billed tit-tyrant's genus, Anairetes, is believed to be most closely related to the genera Mecocerculus and Serpophaga; however, there is no definitive evidence supporting this claim. Members of the genus Anairetes are known commonly as tit-tyrants because their active foraging behavior and crests are reminiscent of the true tits in the family Paridae.

Green-bellied Hummingbird
Saucerottia viridigaster
Plain and often confusing hummingbird found along lower to middle slopes of the Andes. Note its limited range in the eastern Andes of Colombia and the Andes of Venezuela. Plumage is mostly green with rusty-brown rump and tail. Its name is deceptive as the belly is typically brown or buff, not green. Similar to Rufous-tailed Hummingbird, but bill is darker and less red, and rump and tail are browner and less rufous. Inhabits forest edge, clearings, and plantations. Birds found in the Tepui region are now considered a separate species, Copper-tailed Hummingbird.
Yellow-billed Duck
Anas undulata
A brown duck with a vividly yellow bill and white scalloping on the feathers, giving it a scaly appearance, especially on the underparts. A common resident and nomad through Africa’s freshwater and brackish wetlands, where it forages for plants and invertebrates. The similar African Black Duck differs from Yellow-billed Duck by being darker overall and having white spots on the upperparts, a bull-neck, and a pale-pink-and-black bill.
Rufous-bellied Mountain Tanager
Pseudosaltator rufiventris
Large and distinctive tanager of scrubland, open woodland, and Polylepis in the high Andes form NW Argentina to La Paz, Bolivia. Similar to Saltators, which it was formerly considered part of, but note extensive rufous underparts, and slate gray back and chest.
