Sangihe Golden-Bulbul
Hypsipetes platenae
A dull thrush-sized songbird with a long stout bill. Uniform dark olive above with a prominent yellow patch between bill and eye, a yellow throat, a dark eye, and paler cheeks. Rest of underparts greenish. Juveniles duller and pale-eyed. Rare; small groups are confined to remnant patches of foothill forest on Sangihe. Prominent yellow parts of plumage separate it from the smaller, browner Sangihe Whistler. Calls include “bwit” and thrush-like “puk” notes. Loud, two-part song starts with four rising nasal notes, followed by whistles: “kwee-kwee-kwee-kwee-DEEP-pDEEP-pDEEP”.
分类信息
The Sangihe golden bulbul was formally described in 1888 by the German ornithologist Wilhelm Blasius from a specimen collected by Margarete and Carl Platen on Sangir Island, north of Sulawesi in Indonesia. Blaisius placed the species in the genus Criniger and coined the binomial name Criniger platenae. The specific epithet was chosen to honour the Platens. By publishing scientific names in a daily newspaper, the Braunschweigische Anzeiger, Blasius was able to get his new names in print before his main rival Richard Bowdler Sharpe.<p>The Sangihe golden bulbul was formerly considered as conspecific with the five other bulbuls, all called the northern golden bulbul before they were all split. This bulbul is now placed in the genus Hypsipetes that was introduced in 1831 by Nicholas Vigors.

Mountain Trogon
Trogon mexicanus
Fairly large trogon of pine and pine-oak forests in highlands; usually at upper levels in trees and often rather shy. Male is striking, with big, bold white squares on underside of tail. Female has broken white eyering on brown head and coarse black-and-white pattern under the tail. Elegant Trogon overlaps in range and can be told from Mountain by the coppery color on the top of the tail (male) or by the white stripe behind the eye (female). Also note the finely patterned tail on both male and female Elegant Trogons. The similar but smaller Collared Trogon is found mainly at lower elevation and has much finer barring on the underside of the tail.
Varied Tit
Sittiparus varius
Active and colorful inhabitant of temperate lowland and foothill forests. Combination of bright orange underparts, blue-gray wings, and white cheeks is unmistakable within its range; similar Chestnut-bellied Tit is is restricted to Taiwan. Tame and boisterous, often frequenting gardens, parks, and backyard feeders, particularly in the winter.
Gentoo Penguin

Attractive, medium-sized penguin that is rarely seen away from well-known colony sites. Appearance is distinctive with white “headphones” and a lipstick-orange bill unlike any other penguin. Striking head and bill pattern also make it one of the easiest penguins to identify when seen swimming at sea. Nests in small colonies and occurs around King and Magellanic Penguins in northern areas of its range, as on the Falklands.
