Yungas Warbler
Basileuterus punctipectus
This attractive warbler is nearly endemic to the Bolivian Andes, barely reaching over the border into Peru. Note the ornate head pattern and olive (not yellow) plumage. Most similar to Riverbank Warbler and the white bellied form of Golden-crowned Warbler, but has a dark loop below the eye and is found at higher elevations. Usually seen in pairs at lower to middle levels of cloud forest. Song is a rising series of piping notes followed by a chatter. Formerly considered a subspecies group of Three-striped Warbler.

Singing Parrot
Geoffroyus heteroclitus
A mostly green medium-sized parrot with a contrasting head, gray in females and yellow in males. Shows a blue underwing in flight. Inhabits lowland forest edge, including coconut plantations, parks, and gardens, up to at least 1750 meters of elevation. Bulkier than Cardinal, White-naped, Yellow-bibbed, and Purple-bellied Lories, with slower wingbeats, and lacks the mostly red color of those species. The similar Eclectus Parrot is larger with a bigger bill, and male is also green but has a red underwing. Singing Parrot’s voice includes a wide variety of harsh cries and a whistling bell-like song.

Black-rumped Magpie
Pica bottanensis
The black-and-white magpie of the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau. Best identified by range, but overlaps in the far eastern and southern parts of its range with Oriental Magpie; look for Black-rumped’s reduced gloss in plumage and stouter bill. Gives various chattering notes which average hoarser than those of Oriental Magpie. Found in farmland and other semi-open areas, as well as parks and towns.

Azure Gallinule
Porphyrio flavirostris
Small, pale chickenlike marsh bird with washed out gray-blue underparts that contrast with its olive brown back and crown. Note the thick yellow bill and frontal shield. Found in freshwater marshes with abundant floating vegetation where its appearances may be seasonal and erratic. Rarely seen swimming.
