Rufous-cheeked Tanager
Tangara rufigenis
Beautiful aquamarine tanager with rufous mask. Several shades of blue on body: back is darker aquamarine, underparts mostly turquoise, belly cream, and undertail cinnamon. Sexes similar. Uncommon, often alone but also in small groups and mixed species flocks foraging in canopy or mid-levels. Occurs at low to high elevations in cloud forest and edges, but most often at middle elevations. Similar to other small tanagers, but color patterns distinctive. Endemic to the Coastal Cordillera of Venezuela.

Red-naped Fruit-Dove
Ptilinopus dohertyi
A large, striking fruit-dove with a dark lower body, a cream-colored head, and a diagnostic conspicuous red patch on the nape. Juveniles show yellow fringes to upperparts feathers and greenish feathers on head and breast. Usually encountered singly or in pairs in the upper levels of forest in lowlands and hills. Call is a low, disyllabic “wooo-hoo,” usually given repeatedly.
Philippine Bulbul
Hypsipetes philippinus
A medium-sized bird of lowland and montane forest as well as more open wooded areas. Dark brown above with a pale belly, an orange-brown throat and chest with pale streaking, and a dark head with faint gray streaks. Bill fairly long and black. Similar to Streak-breasted Bulbul, but smaller, with a shorter bill, a grayish crown, and a warmer orange-brown throat and chest. Song consists of short, loud whistled phrases with a slightly metallic quality. Also gives downslurred squeals and chattering.
Temminck's Tragopan
Tragopan temminckii
Rotund terrestrial bird of hilly forests, usually seen singly. Male exquisitely colored: bright flame-orange overall, with white dots all over the body, black face, and electric blue facial wattle that is inflated into a liver-shaped, dazzling red-and-blue flap during courtship. Female similarly shaped and sized, dark brown overall, with pale spotting and streaking. Generally quiet; courting males give loud booming moans.
