Rufous-chested Flycatcher
Ficedula dumetoria
This handsome little flycatcher has the endearing habit of fanning its tail and flicking its wings when agitated. The male’s long slender white eyebrows and orange breast make him unmistakable; wintering male Mugimaki Flycatchers may cause some confusion, but that species has a smaller, block-like eyebrow patch and a broader, shorter white wing patch. Females are brown above and whitish below with an orange chest and rufous tail; her combination of plain brown wings, warm-toned tail, and a fairly uniform head pattern separate her from female Snowy-browed and Mugimaki Flycatchers. Female “blue flycatchers” can be similar, but they are more slender and have proportionally longer bills. Found in foothill and montane forests, where it forages in dense low thickets, typically singly or in pairs. Song is a brief 3–4-note phrase of very high, thin notes: “tsee-a-tsee-tsee”, or “tsee-ah-tsee”.

The rufous-chested flycatcher (Ficedula dumetoria) is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss. The former subspecies Ficedula dumetoria riedeli is now usually considered a full species - the Tanimbar flycatcher. It is insectivorous.

Red-headed Bluebill
Spermophaga ruficapilla
Pretty member of the waxbill family that has a massive, conical bill. Males have a black belly and females a spotted one, and both sexes show an all-red head. Found in rainforest, gallery forest, thickets, and secondary habitats. Usually in pairs or small groups, in areas with thick undergrowth, and usually some grass. Sometimes on roads and paths. Vocalizations include a quiet “schpit” call and a rarely-heard whistled song. Similar to Grant’s Bluebill, but separated by all-red head. Male similar to male Black-bellied Seedcracker, but separated by its black tail and its red-and-blue rather than all-blue bill.
Hall's Babbler
Pomatostomus halli
Large, conspicuous songbird with long decurved bill, very dark mask, broad whitish eyebrow, narrow dark-brown crown, and dark eye. White throat and breast form a well-defined bib and do not extend to belly; belly and undertail dark. Compare White-browed Babbler, in which white breast extends into belly and white eyebrow is much narrower than the crown stripe. Forages mostly on the ground in chattering flocks, in western Queensland.
Fiji Petrel
Pseudobulweria macgillivrayi
A relatively small, entirely dark petrel, appearing chocolate-brown or black, with a distinctive short-necked and cigar-shaped silhouette due to its tapering tail. Lacks the white underside of the otherwise similar Beck’s Petrel, and is significantly smaller than and lacks the white belly of Tahiti Petrel. Similar to Bulwer’s Petrel, but lacks the pale bars found in the upperwing of that species, appears shorter-necked, and does not hold its head high in flight. Overall flight style of Fiji Petrel is more acrobatic than that of Bulwer’s Petrel.
