Piping Crow
Corvus typicus
A distinctive black-and-white crow that occurs within the canopy of hill and mountain forest on Sulawesi and satellite islands. White parts of adults are duller on juveniles. Typically found in pairs or small groups. Gives a variety of conspicuous loud calls, including screeches, metallic whistles, and piping notes, very unlike traditional crow sounds.

Pitcairn Reed Warbler
Acrocephalus vaughani
A large cold-toned warbler with grayish-brown upperparts, yellowish-buff underparts, and variably white wings and tail. Irregular whitening of wings and tail give it a messy appearance. Found primarily in patches of tall forest, avoiding open areas. Voice is a harsh, scolding “chak, chak.” Does not sing.

Bannerman's Sunbird
Cyanomitra bannermani
A medium-sized sunbird with an olive back and gray belly. Male has a metallic bluish (may appear green in some light) hood and breast; female appears plain-headed with limited metallic plumage on crown. Immature like female, but darker and duller. Singles and pairs are uncommon residents of riparian forest, forest-edge, and broadleaved Miombo woodland. Sings a series of short jumbled high-pitched notes. Compared to similar Green-headed Sunbird, smaller Bannerman’s Sunbird has a shorter, straighter bill, and mostly blue head (duller on female), lacking an obvious green crown.

Gray-streaked Flycatcher
Muscicapa griseisticta
Small and streaky flycatcher, with longer-winged appearance than Asian Brown and Dark-sided Flycatchers. Breeds in mixed and deciduous forest in lowlands and hilly regions. Dark brown above, white below, with distinct pale eyering and long, dark streaks below. Streaking can resemble the patterning of some Dark-sided Flycatchers but is more distinct, less smudgy-looking. Asian Brown Flycatcher shares the same general color scheme but is paler brown and lacks streaking.
