Bartlett's Tinamou
Crypturellus bartletti
Small tinamou of floodplain rainforest. Reddish brown with limited black barring on the wings. Found in tall lowland rainforest, especially around water and in seasonally flooded areas, and can be quite common. Listen for a series of whistles given at a pace of about one note per four seconds that gradually accelerates until about twice as fast; recalls the song of Cinereous Tinamou, but faster and usually accelerating.
识别特征
The Bartlett's tinamou is approximately 27 cm (11 in) in length. Its upperparts are brown above barred with black, throat and belly are white, remainder of underparts are rufous, flanks are barred black, and its crown is blackish.
分类信息
The Bartlett's tinamou is a monotypic species. All tinamou are from the family Tinamidae, and in the larger scheme are also ratites. Unlike other ratites, tinamous can fly, although in general, they are not strong fliers. All ratites evolved from prehistoric flying birds, and tinamous are the closest living relative of these birds.

Bartlett's tinamou is found in swamp and lowland forest in subtropical and tropical regions up to 500 m (1,600 ft) altitude. This species is native to western Amazonian Brazil, northern Bolivia, and eastern Peru, in South America. It is also found in eastern Ecuador. Over its range, it is considered uncommon.

行为
Like other tinamous, the Bartlett's eats fruit off the ground or low-lying bushes. They also eat small amounts of invertebrates, flower buds, tender leaves, seeds, and roots. The male incubates the eggs which may come from as many as 4 different females, and then will raise them until they are ready to be on their own, usually 2–3 weeks. The nest is located on the ground in dense brush or between raised root buttresses.
保护状况
The IUCN classify this tinamou as Least Concern, with an occurrence range of 1,600,000 km2 (620,000 sq mi).

Christmas Shearwater
Puffinus nativitatis
A medium-sized shearwater with uniformly dark brown plumage and no contrasting markings. Flies more steadily than most shearwaters and usually flies low over the water. Large numbers nest on most of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. A few pairs nest on Moku Manu Islet off the eastern coast of Oahu. Often seen from boats in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, but rarely on the main islands and rarely from shore. The voice, usually heard only at breeding colonies, is a low moan.

Violet-necked Lory
Trichoglossus squamatus
A spectacular red parrot with a deep purple-blue belly. Limited to the Moluccas, where variation may represent two species. In north, shows a diagnostic purple collar that is lacking in southern island populations, which show entirely red heads. Juveniles are red underneath with purple feather edging. Gregarious, found in pairs and groups within canopy in forest, forest edge, and plantations in lowlands and foothills. Northern forms are distinguished from Chattering Lory by the blue belly, red-and-blue wings, and blue collar. Gives various loud screeches that can sound like “WIT,” “KIT,” “ER,” and a shrill “EEK.”

Rough-legged Tyrannulet
Acrochordopus burmeisteri
Small flycatcher found in forest canopy. Confusingly similar to other tyrannulets, but note especially its stubby (not pointy) bill with a very pale base, which can be quite evident since you are often looking straight up at the bird. Voice is another good clue; it often gives sharp whistles, either alone or in a series. It also tends to be more sluggish, perches more vertically, and stays higher up in the trees than other similar tyrannulets. It has two separate populations, one in the Atlantic Forest region, and another along the east slope of the Andes in Argentina, Bolivia, and perhaps far southern Peru. Northward it is replaced by White-fronted Tyrannulet, which is now considered a separate species. The area of overlap is not well known. Rough-legged Tyrannulet is more uniformly colored, showing little or no gray in the crown.
