Eastern Dwarf Hornbill
Horizocerus granti
A small, dark forest hornbill found predominantly in primary forest subcanopy, where it prefers areas with abundant vines. This species is unique in its overall dark coloration and its broad white eyebrow that extends to the back of the head. The only similarly-sized forest hornbill in its range is the more reddish Red-billed Dwarf Hornbill, but Eastern Dwarf Hornbill has a less well-defined border between the dark chest and white belly, and only Eastern Dwarf Hornbill has the broad white eyebrow behind the eye. Voice is a repetitive “yep yep yep yep” that can be repeated at length, sometimes accompanied with a howl.

The eastern dwarf hornbill (Horizocerus granti) is a species of hornbill in the family Bucerotidae. It is native to the Congo Basin. It was formerly considered to be a subspecies of the western dwarf hornbill (Horizocerus hartlaubi), with the English name "black dwarf hornbill".

The eastern dwarf hornbill was formally described in 1895 by the German orthithologist Ernst Hartert based on a specimen collected near the Aruwimi River, a tributary of the Congo River, during the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition led by Henry Morton Stanley. Hartert coined the binomial name Lophoceros granti. The specific epithet was chosen to honour the Scottish ornithologist William Ogilvie-Grant. This species is placed in the genus Horizocerus that was introduced in 1899 by the American ornithologist Harry C. Oberholser.

Drab-breasted Pygmy-Tyrant
Hemitriccus diops
Tiny flycatcher found in the understory of forests with bamboo. Plain olive-brown above and buff below. Note the white spot on the face and the reddish-brown iris. The similar Brown-breasted Pygmy-Tyrant has a buff facial spot and is usually found at higher elevations than Drab-breasted Pygmy-Tyrant, which is found below 1,200 m. The song is a short “trrii-trrii trri tii” trill.
Javan Myna
Acridotheres javanicus
Originally restricted to the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali, this crested myna has since been introduced to Singapore, Taiwan, and various parts of Malaysia and Indonesia. Dark gray overall with a spiffy erect crest and a bright yellowish-orange bill. Darker than Jungle Myna, with which it overlaps in both its native and introduced ranges. Also compare with Crested Myna; note Javan’s brighter bill and white vent. Bold and social, foraging in farms, parks, and gardens. Roosts in large noisy flocks, often close to human habitation.
Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo
Zanda latirostris
Black cockatoo with white ear patch and white tail panel, found in the southwestern corner of Western Australia, where it inhabits a wide variety of habitats, including woodlands, pine plantations, farmland, and urban parks. The very similar Baudin’s Black-Cockatoo has much longer upper mandible. Calls include mournful, wailing cries, as well as loud, rough screeches.
