White-browed Brushfinch
Arremon torquatus
Handsome brushfinch found in humid forest along the east slope of the Andes in Bolivia, northwestern Argentina, and far southeastern Peru. It has an olive back, black mask, striped head, and white throat. In the northern part of its range it also has a black breast-band. Similar to Gray-browed Brushfinch, but has white (not gray) eyebrow; also note range. Inhabits thickets in forest understory. Typical song is a seesawing series of three to four high-pitched whistles.

The white-browed brushfinch (Arremon torquatus) is a species of bird in the family Passerellidae, the New World sparrows. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru.

Until recently, the white-browed brushfinch was placed in the genus Buarremon.<p>Considerable racial variation existed in the formerly named stripe-headed brushfinch, and based on ecology, morphology, song, and molecular work it was recently suggested that it be split into eight species.

Willard's Sooty Boubou
Laniarius willardi
Mid-sized bushshrike that is completely black with pale blue-gray eyes. Found in the undergrowth of humid forest at moderate elevations. A skilled skulker that is most often detected by voice. The most distinctive vocalization is a series of four bell-like whistles; also gives low scolding notes. Very similar to Albertine Boubou, but prefers lower-elevation forest and has a pale eye.
Scale-crested Pygmy-Tyrant
Lophotriccus pileatus
Tiny bird, plump and active. Most obvious features are pale eyes and rufous crown with black spots (rarely raised to a crest). Even when crest not raised, crown often looks shaggy. Combination of size and crown pattern helps separate from other small flycatchers. Otherwise nondescript: overall olive-brownish, whitish belly with blurry streaking, subtly paler wingbars. Found singly or in pairs along forest edge, second growth, or sometimes inside forest. Makes pipping notes and a short insectlike trill.
Superb Fruit-Dove
Ptilinopus superbus
Tiny rainforest dove with white belly and white vent (compared to Rose-crowned Fruit-Dove which has a yellow belly and vent). Males have a thick black chest band and purple crown. Occurs in eastern Indonesia, New Guinea, and down the east coast of Australia (where it is more common in the north). Voice is often a short sequence of repeated hoots that don’t accelerate to the same extent as Rose-crowned Fruit-Dove.
