Gray-headed Goshawk
Tachyspiza poliocephala
An Inconspicuous, mid-sized raptor of the lowland and foothill forest interior. Dark eye, dark gray back, pale gray head and whitish belly, although a rare, dark-bellied form also occurs. Scans the forest floor from the mid-story for reptiles and insects. Orange facial skin and legs make it unmistakable in its range. Call, a high pitched “wi-ki-ki!” or longer series, sometimes given while stretching its wings straight up above its back, in display.
识别特征
The upperparts are grey, paler on the head and neck; the wings are dark; the underparts are mainly white; the cere and legs are red-orange. The body is 30–38 cm long; females are larger than males. Juveniles have dark brown wings.

The grey-headed goshawk is endemic to New Guinea and adjacent islands. It has been recorded from Saibai Island, Queensland, an Australian territory in the north-western Torres Strait. It lives in forests, forest edges and secondary growth.

Cream-backed Woodpecker
Campephilus leucopogon
Remarkable large woodpecker, mostly black with a red head and a large cream patch on the back. Females have a cream moustachial stripe and a black forehead. Occurs in open woodlands and savanna. The call is a nasal “pi-ow” and the drum is a double tap.

Christmas Island-Thrush
Turdus erythropleurus
Brown and gray thrush with an orange belly, pale throat, and bright orange bill, eyering, legs, and feet. Inhabits forested habitats across Christmas Island, where it can sometimes be found quite close to human habitation; the only resident thrush on the island, and unmistakable. Often encountered foraging actively on the ground. Song is a variable series of doubled notes; calls include an explosive chattering series of rapid chup notes.

Swinhoe's Pheasant
Lophura swinhoii
Secretive, handsome endemic pheasant of Taiwan's mountains. Male slaty blue from nape to flanks, with contrasting white upper back, brown mantle, and dark gray wings; female mostly rich brown with pale markings above. Both sexes have red facial skin, more extensive in male. Forages quietly in pairs in the forest understory, occasionally along forest edge on trails or roads. Both sexes give subtle clucking calls and a high-pitched squeaky alarm call. Male has white in tail and back, unlike Mikado Pheasant; female distinguished by richer plumage tones, broader tail, pale bill, reddish legs, and unmarked underparts.
