Large-billed Seed-Finch
Sporophila crassirostris
As the name suggests, this seed-finch has a truly massive bill – much larger than any seedeater. Male is all black with a small white wing patch. Bill is pale whitish or silvery. Female is brown with a dark bill. Very similar to Great-billed Seed-Finch, which is slightly larger; thankfully there is limited range overlap. Occurs in lowlands, primarily in scrubby or grassy fields and marshes. Uncommon.

Cape Verde Swift
Apus alexandri
Small endemic swift of Cape Verde. Smaller and more gray-brown compared to other swifts, with prominent whitish throat patch. Note shallow forked tail. Flight faster and more fluttering than Common Swift and the closely-related Plain Swift. Calls very similar to Common Swift, but slightly higher-pitched.
Sunda Collared-Dove

Medium-sized pinkish-brown dove with bright red eyes. “Collar” is black with a white upper margin. Favors mangroves and other open forests and forest edge, occasionally venturing into areas of human habitation; generally uncommon throughout much of its range. Gives a deep throaty purr.
Micronesian Imperial-Pigeon
Ducula oceanica
A large pigeon with a mostly gray body, green wings, and a distinctive and diagnostic black fleshy knob above the bill. Found across most habitats, but most common in undisturbed forest. Voice is a series of raspy growling notes becoming gradually shorter, “grroww… grroww grow grow-gr-gr.”
