Golden-throated Barbet
Psilopogon franklinii
Large green barbet with a broad black bandit’s mask, a pale gray face, and a black-and-yellow crown. Yellow-orange throat patch is small and sometimes missed when seen poorly. Like most other barbets, sluggish and difficult to see, usually encountered foraging quietly or sitting still in the canopy. Song is usually a long steady series of loud hiccupping two-syllabled hoots, but these sometimes sound more plaintive and whistled.

分类信息
Bucco franklinii was the scientific name proposed by Edward Blyth in 1842 who described a vivid green barbet with a golden throat collected in Darjeeling. It was placed in the genus Megalaima proposed by George Robert Gray in 1842 who suggested to use this name instead of Bucco. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the following golden-throated barbet zoological specimens were described:<p>Molecular phylogenetic research of barbets revealed that the birds in the genus Megalaima form a clade, which also includes the fire-tufted barbet, the only species placed in the genus Psilopogon at the time. Barbets formerly placed in this genus were therefore reclassified under the genus Psilopogon. Two golden-throated barbet subspecies are recognised as of 2014:

Gray-rumped Swallow
Pseudhirundo griseopyga
Slim, long-tailed swallow with pale underparts and dark blue upperparts. The gray rump is not conspicuous when perched but can be discerned in flight. Found in grassland and open savanna, usually near water. Frequently in small flocks. Notable for its unusual habit of nesting in rodent burrows! Similar to Common House Martin, but has a gray rather than white rump, and a longer, slimmer tail.

Thick-billed Green-Pigeon
Treron curvirostra
Brightly-colored and thickset pigeon of the forest canopy, usually seen flying over in pairs or small groups. Distinctive bicolored bill and bright green eyering are visible even from a distance. Both sexes are mostly green. Males have maroon backs, while females are green all over; both have jagged bright yellow striping on the wing edges. Flocks are seen in fruiting trees in lowland and foothill forests, where they often associate with other green pigeons. Gives smoothly undulating “woooOOOO”, often in series.

African Green-Pigeon
Treron calvus
A plump pigeon with green wings and back, dull burgundy shoulders, and a whitish bill with a red base. It prefers forest and thicker woodland, where nomadic groups congregate in fruiting trees, especially figs. They clamber around clumsily like parrots but can remain well hidden. When disturbed, they explode from a tree and fly quickly and directly. Often detected by their amusing song, which includes whinnies, clicks, whistles, cackles, and growls. African Green-Pigeon lacks the bright yellow belly of the similar Bruce’s Green-Pigeon.
