New Caledonian Myzomela
Myzomela caledonica
Striking red, black, and whitish myzomela found throughout New Caledonia, though preferring areas with native habitat. Male has red head and chest, black back, wings, and tail, and whitish flanks. Female much plainer, mostly brown with faint reddish tinge on face. Notably smaller than other honeyeaters on New Caledonia.

Phylloscopus montis
Brightly-colored, rotund warbler. Orange-brown head, white eye-ring, and bright yellow underparts distinguish this species from other small warblers. Active inhabitant of montane and submontane forests, where it often forages actively with mixed flocks. Song is a series of high, thin notes.

A large honeyguide of forest and forest edge. Usually stays high in the trees, but will descend low when foraging or when following humans through the forest. Shows greenish back and wings with a spotted crown and distinctive olive-green underparts with white spotting. Has a typical honeyguide tail, with white outer tail feathers with dark tips. Throat is paler than breast, and the pale belly has spots turning to streaks. Song is a distinctive trilled “tjrrrrr” lasting up to several seconds.
White-headed Fruit-Dove
Ptilinopus eugeniae
A spectacular fruit-dove with a bright white head and a large scarlet chest patch, endemic to the island of Makira and nearby islets. Unmistakable and unlike any other species in its range. Common across the island, including in degraded patches and villages. Commonly heard giving a distinctive “wootWOOT” double-noted call.
