Finsch's Wheatear
Oenanthe finschii
A medium-sized elegant wheatear with long wings and long legs. Strong sexual dimorphism: male is black and white with a bright white hood and back, while female is gray-brown with gray upperparts and an increasing amount of dark feathering on throat as they mature. In all plumages note the narrow, evenly-broad black terminal tail band. Breeds on high, barren, rocky mountain slopes. In winter, often descends to plains, steppes, and even semi-desert. Song is a mix of harsh scratches and musical whistles; often given from a prominent perch.

Jerdon's Bushchat
Saxicola jerdoni
Handsome but uncommon bushchat. Male’s clean black-and-white coloration is unmistakable. Female is rich brown above and white below, without the contrasting throat and eyebrow of the female Gray Bushchat. A lowland and hill species, predominantly found in open areas with medium-height to tall grasses and shrubbery. Hawks flying insects from a conspicuous perch. Song is a brief, sweet descending series of notes ending in a churr.

Rufous Hummingbird
Selasphorus rufus
Adult males are almost entirely orange with bright white chest and some green on the back (can be solid green like Allen's Hummingbird). Throat is iridescent, and depending on the light, can look anywhere from red to orange to yellow to lime green. On females and immatures, look for orange on sides and tail to separate from Anna's and Black-chinned. Found in a variety of wooded habitats; more common in migration in suburbs, meadows, and other brushier areas. Feeds on nectar and tiny insects.

Black Shama
Copsychus cebuensis
A medium-sized, long-tailed bird of lowland forest, bamboo, and scrub on Cebu, where it has a preference for valley bottoms. Male is entirely black with a glossy sheen, where the female is sooty gray with a rusty belly. Catches insects on the ground, in the undergrowth, or even on the wing. There are no other species of similar shape and size on Cebu. Song is a series of long, slightly out of tune, often quavering whistles.
