Red-faced Warbler

Large dove found in mature montane forests from the western U.S. and Canada into Middle and South America. Soft blue-gray above and unique purplish-gray below, with white crescent on the nape. Yellow feet. Bill is yellow with black tip in northern populations, all yellow in southern ones. Forms large flocks in coniferous forests and montane areas where it feeds on seeds and fruits. When it takes off, wings make loud clapping sound.

A plain, brownish, long-tailed flycatcher-like thrush. The tail is blackish with white corners. Found in the understory and at middle levels of humid forest. Perches upright and feeds like a flycatcher by snatching prey or catching it on the wing. Similar to White-tailed Ant-Thrush, but has a more upright posture and more flycatcher-like behavior, and is not usually found on the ground. The song is a slow, rising series of several mournful whistles. The call is a scolding series of several buzzing “kweee” notes. 

Localized species found only in lowland rainforest south of the River Ogooué in Gabon, and possibly also in adjacent Congo. A short-tailed understory robin with a bright orange throat. Also shows a dark-green back, mostly gray face, pale-yellow belly, and a white spot in front of the eye. Vocalizations seem to differ from other forest robins, though more study is needed. One vocalization is a chirp note, followed by a series of modulated notes. Another is a series of phrases, which are continually repeated. May occur alongside very similar Orange-breasted Forest Robin, but distinguished by the green rather than brownish back, and the yellowish rather than whitish belly. Can also be confused with Lowland Akalat, but always distinguished by the white spot in front of the eye, as well as the dark-green rather than rufous-brown back, and the yellowish rather than white belly.
