White-browed Tapaculo
Scytalopus superciliaris
Small, mouse-like bird of the high Andes in NW Argentina. Found in lower, more humid forest than similar Zimmer’s Tapaculo. Prefers humid montane forest hillsides and ravines, especially with dense understory. Most often found by voice: a burry, emphatic, two part ”skyew-yew”.
识别特征
The white-browed tapaculo is 10.5 cm (4.1 in) long. The nominate adult's most striking features are its long white supercilium, throat, and upper breast. The back and wings are grayish brown to brownish gray. The lower breast is gray. The rump is brown with fine bars. The flanks, belly, and crissum (the area around the cloaca) are pale olive-brown with black bars. Subspecies S. s. santabarbarae is darker, with upper parts trending to chestnut and the underparts being blackish-brown instead of gray.
分类信息
The white-browed tapaculo has at times been considered a subspecies of Magellanic tapaculo (Scytalopus magellanicus). It and Zimmer's tapaculo (S. zimmeri) form a superspecies. It has two subspecies, the nominate Scytalopus superciliaris superciliaris and S. s. santabarbarae.

分布与栖息地
The white-browed tapaculo is found only in northwestern Argentina. The nominate subspecies ranges from Jujuy Province south to northern La Rioja Province. Subspecies S. s. santabarbarae is probably limited to the Santa Bárbara Mountains of Jujuy, though it might also extend into Salta Province.<p>The white-browed tapaculo inhabits the undergrowth of Alnus and Polylepis woodlands, often in shaded rocky ravines. In elevation it ranges from 1,500 to 3,350 m (4,920 to 10,990 ft).

Sulawesi Pitta
Erythropitta celebensis
A round-bodied, short-tailed, long-legged terrestrial bird with a red belly. Broad, iridescent blue chest band is bordered with thick black lines. Reddish-brown crown shows an indistinct blue line. Also shows paler brown cheeks and green upperparts. Juvenile is brown with a pale bill base and gray eyes. Singles or pairs forage on forest floor in lowlands and foothills. Unmistakable in limited range on Sulawesi and adjacent islands. Song is a drawn-out, two-part whistle with a longer, trembling first note followed by a falling, mournful note: “waaaaaaaop-wooowow,” as is typical of the genus.

Baker's Imperial-Pigeon
Ducula bakeri
A large, strikingly dark pigeon with an entirely dark upperside, a purple throat, a gray head, and a chestnut belly and underwing. Found mainly on large islands above 600 meters of elevation, but occasionally coastal. Unlike any other pigeon in Vanuatu. Most common call is a series of about 15 accelerating and shortening hoots.

Red Shoveler
Spatula platalea
Distinctive dabbling duck: combination of very large, slightly shovel-shaped black bill and and pale blue forewing patches (brighter on male) identify all plumages. Male has a pale gray head with pale yellow eyes and a “red” body with black spots. Female is mottled brown overall, but note white sides to pointed tail, big black bill. Fairly common in wetlands and at lakes, river mouths, and sewage lagoons. Unlike many dabbling ducks, often rather quiet.
