Fawn-breasted Bowerbird
Chlamydera cerviniventris
Medium-sized bowerbird found in a diverse range of habitats across northern Cape York and New Guinea, usually in tropical moist forest but also in shrubland, parks, and gardens. Primarily grayish brown with subtle orange wash in belly, diffuse streaking in throat and breast. Unlike in other similar bowerbirds, sexes alike. Compare larger Great Bowerbird, which has pink crest in male and lacks orange-toned underparts. Males build an impressive "U" shaped bower of sticks that they decorate with green fruit and leaves. Male song includes great variety of harsh notes and imitations of other birds.

Blue-tailed Trogon
Trogon comptus
Colorful trogon of lowland and foothill rainforest in western Ecuador and western Colombia. Both sexes have conspicuous white eyes, unmarked black tail, red belly, and mostly yellow bill. Male is green with a black face. Female is gray with a dark top to her yellow bill. Differs from Slaty-tailed Trogon by yellow (not orange) bill. Also similar to Ecuadorian Trogon, but lacks white on breast. Perches high in the trees for long periods, occasionally sallying out to take fruits or insects. Often first detected by song, a lazy series of 20 or more mellow whistles.
Fan-tailed Warbler
Basileuterus lachrymosus
Attractive, rather large warbler with long, expressive, white-tipped tail. Occurs in tropical forest of foothills and lowlands, mainly in winter, especially in areas with open understory and boulders. Forages mainly on or near the ground, flipping its tail loosely from side to side; regularly attends army ant swarms. Sexes look alike, with white face spots, blue-gray upperparts, and rich orange-yellow breast.
Choco Sirystes
Sirystes albogriseus
A medium-sized flycatcher, reminiscent of a mix between a becard and a Myiarchus flycatcher. Uncommon to rare in lowlands and foothills from eastern Panama to northwest Ecuador. Gray above and white below with a dark cap and black wings with bold white edging. More slender-bodied and longer-tailed than a becard. Occurs in open areas, second-growth, and forest edge, often perching conspicuously in the middle to upper levels.
