分布与栖息地
Its natural habitats at tropical moist lowland primary forest and well developed secondary forest up to 970 meters above sea level. It appears to not be able to tolerate great amounts of forest degradation. It is known to forage in the upper levels of the forest in the canopy.
IUCN has assessed this bird as vulnerable with the population being estimated at 600 to 1.700. Extensive lowland deforestation on all islands in its range is the main threat. Most remaining lowland forest that is not afforded protection leaving it vulnerable to both legal and Illegal logging, conversion into farmlands through Slash-and-burn and mining.
It occurs in the protected area of Pasonanca Natural Park but enforcement and protection from loggers is lax.
Conservation actions proposed are to survey remaining lowland forest tracts on Samar, Leyte and in poorly known areas of Mindanao, to establish its current distribution and population status. Following these surveys, Propose key sitesfor urgent establishment as protected areas. Study the habitat requirements of the species, with particular reference to the extent of reliance on primary forest habitats.

Sula Dwarf-Kingfisher
Ceyx wallacii
A small kingfisher with an entirely orange bill, dark blue upperparts, a paler blue stripe down the upperside, a white throat, and orange underparts. Also note the orange-washed pale patch on the sides of neck and the orange forehead patch. Inhabits forest understory. Confined to the Sula islands. Overlaps with Blue-eared and Common Kingfishers, but note Sula’s smaller size, entirely orange bill, and darker blackish-blue upperpart coloration. Gives an extremely high-pitched, shrill “tseeeeip” call, as is typical of dwarf-kingfishers.

Bluish-gray Saltator
Saltator coerulescens
Fairly common, but often retiring, in tropical lowlands of both drier and more humid areas. Occurs across much of South America, from Colombia to Argentina. Can be found from sea level to around 1,500 m elevation. Favors forest edge, second growth thickets, hedges, and tangles, especially with morning glory flowers, which it munches quietly. Note plain bluish-gray coloration with warm tawny vent and short white eyebrow. Immature looks slightly different, with a yellowish wash to the face and upperparts. Listen for sweet song with slurred whistles.

Purple-throated Sunangel
Heliangelus viola
Medium-sized hummingbird with a rather limited range in southern Ecuador and northern Peru. Unmistakable: mostly emerald-green with a purple throat and a blue forecrown. Also note the fairly short, straight bill. Sexes similar, but female is slightly duller. Occurs at forest edge and shrubby areas from around 1,800 to 3,300 m. Visits feeders.
