Andean Parakeet
Bolborhynchus orbygnesius
Small green parakeet with a yellow wash in the face and a gray bill. Found at high elevations in intermontane valleys, around semi-humid scrub and forest. Compared to the similar Mountain Parakeet, Andean has a shorter tail, a gray bill (not pale pink), and very little blue on the wing. Its calls are given in rapid series, sounding like a chuckled “juh-juh-juh.”

The Andean parakeet is 16 to 17 cm (6.3 to 6.7 in) long and weighs 48 to 50 g (1.7 to 1.8 oz). It is rather plump with a short tail. Adults are almost entirely green, with a yellow tinge from the face to the belly that is brightest on the throat and upper breast. The outer webs of their primaries are teal, sometimes approaching violet. Their bill is grayish and their legs dull pink. Juveniles do not have the yellow tinge but are otherwise the same as adults.
分类信息
The Andean parakeet was at one time named Bolborhynchus andicolus and at other times treated as a subspecies of the mountain parakeet (Psilopsiagon aurifrons). Some authors treat it and the rufous-fronted parakeet (B. ferrugineifrons) to form a superspecies. The Andean parakeet is monotypic.

The Andean parakeet is found from Peru's Department of Cajamarca south along the Andes through central Bolivia into Argentina's Jujuy and Salta provinces. It inhabits semiarid cloudforest, Polylepis woodlands, and ravines with bushy vegetation in more open country. In elevation it mostly ranges between 3,000 and 4,000 m (9,800 and 13,100 ft) but occasionally occurs past 6,000 m (20,000 ft).

The Andean parakeet moves from its core range to lower elevation valleys outside the breeding season.<p>The Andean parakeet forages for seeds, fruits, and berries on the ground and in bushes, bamboo, and in leguminous trees.<p>Almost nothing is known about the Andean parakeet's breeding biology. It has been reported to nest in burrows in earthern banks.<p>The Andean parakeet's usual call is "a short (irregularly overslurred) dull note, typically given in chuckling pairs or triplets “juh-juh-juh”, or a much longer chattering series."

Mulga Parrot
Psephotellus varius
Medium-sized colorful parrot, widespread across more arid and semi-arid woodlands of southern inland Australia. Adult male very brightly colored and striking in appearance, primarily turquoise-green with dark blue and yellow in the wings and yellow and red in lower belly. Female primarily brownish-green but with splashes of turquoise, blue, red, and yellow. Typically feeds on the ground. Calls include a repeated, clear, rising "whitt."
Long-bearded Honeyeater
Melionyx princeps
A long, slender honeyeater of subalpine forest and shrubland in eastern New Guinea. All sooty gray-black plumage with long tail and very long, thin, curved bill, long white, whispy beard from the base of the bill, and a yellow-orange wattle at the back of the eye. Some white scaling on the belly. Similar to Sooty Melidectes, but Long-bearded Melidectes is larger and has a white beard. Not very vocal but gives a quiet “eh eh eh” call.
White-tailed Warbler
Poliolais lopezi
Males appear overall gray, with a darker back and cap and a paler belly and throat. Females are similar but with reddish tones to the head. All individuals have extremely short tails with bright white outer tail feathers. An easily overlooked, diminutive warbler of montane forests, where it is often found in shaded thickets. Calls include a typewriter-like trill and nasal “nya nya nya” calls. Birds will sometimes duet, with the female giving nasal calls and the male giving clear, often paired whistles. Birds on Bioko also give a whistled “wheet” that rises in pitch.
