Pale-shouldered Cicadabird
Edolisoma dohertyi
A thrush-sized gray songbird. Male is slaty gray with a black face and throat and dark wings with a large pale panel. Female shows distinctive, extensively barred white underparts. Found within canopy of forest and edge in lowlands and foothills, in pairs or groups, sometimes within mixed-species flocks. Male is smaller and slimmer-billed than Black-faced and Wallacean Cuckooshrikes, lacks a pale belly, and shows a pronounced pale wing panel. Gives a nasal “yup,” short “whut” notes, and a drawn-out, rasping “grrrrrrt” song.

Indian Roller
Coracias benghalensis
A brightly colored bird with various shades of blue on the wings, tails, and belly that are often more prominent in flight. Note the longitudinal white streaks on the throat and breast. Indochinese Roller has a purple-blue breast, a darker olive back, and is generally darker blue. Generally silent, but more vocal in breeding season with harsh calls. Prefers open areas, including agricultural landscapes, sitting on exposed perches including electric wires, occasionally pumping its tail slowly. Practically a resident roller with some movements in the western parts of its range.

Beautiful Sunbird
Cinnyris pulchellus
A slim, long-billed sunbird in which breeding males and females are very different. Breeding males are mostly dark green with a red-and-yellow band across the underparts. Females are plain, with gray-brown upperparts and white underparts tinged with yellow. Found in a wide variety of open habitats including savanna, woodland, and gardens. Similar to Black-bellied Sunbird, but breeding males are separated by the more extensive yellow in their belly band, and females by their reduced streaking below. Little or no range overlap with Gorgeous Sunbird, but if in doubt the green belly of breeding male Beautiful Sunbird will identify it. The common call is a quiet chipping, and the song is a high-pitched jumble typical of sunbirds.

Red-breasted Toucan
Ramphastos dicolorus
Large toucan with a red belly, vent, and rump, a greenish bill, a white and yellow throat and breast. The upperparts are mostly black. Note the prominent bare red skin around the pale eyes and a black ring around the base of the bill. Found mostly in montane forests but also in lowland forests, second growth, and plantations. Call is as series of “grreekk” notes.
