Plumed Whistling-Duck
Dendrocygna eytoni
Large, pale duck with protruding cream-colored plumes on flanks. Stands tall and proud in large flocks around the edges of lakes, ponds, dams, or in nearby agricultural land. As the name suggests, note distinctive whistling call.

Measuring 42–60 cm (16.5–23.5 in) and weighing around one kilogram (2.2 lb), it is a long-necked duck with brown upperparts, paler underparts and a white rump. The chest is chestnut with thin black bars, while long black-margined plumes arise from its flanks. Its bill and legs are pink, and its iris is yellow. The male and female are similar in appearance. The species has a characteristic lowered neck and short, dark, rounded wings while flying.<p>The call is a characteristic whistle which gives the bird its common name.
分类信息
Described by English naturalist Thomas Campbell Eyton in 1838, its specific epithet honours its namer. Its generic name is derived from the Ancient Greek terms dendron "tree", and kuknos (via Latin cygnus) "swan". Alternate common names include; Eyton's plumed, red-legged or whistling tree-duck, and grey or red-legged whistler.

分布与栖息地
The range is eastern, northern and central Australia from the Kimberley across the Top End and Cape York, down to southern Queensland and northern New South Wales on the east coast, although may reach north-western Victoria inland, in the vicinity of the Murray River. It is also found in New Guinea. The preferred habitat is tall grassland and savanna, often near bodies of water.

Rufous-naped Lark
Corypha africana
A large, robust, rusty lark with a short crest, a hefty bill, and a prominent rufous wing panel that is obvious in flight. Geographically highly variable, and does not always show a rufous nape. Can vary from rich rufous-brown to pale and sandy in overall coloration. Pairs are resident in open grassland, grassy savanna, woodland, and cultivated areas. It is most conspicuous in the spring and summer, when it perches up singing a sweet, simple song of 3-5 notes such as “treee-leee-treeloo,” occasionally drooping its wings and jumping with a small flutter, exposing the rufous wings that it shares with some other larks.
Green-backed Eremomela
Eremomela canescens
A fairly colorful medium-sized warbler-like bird with a dull-green back, a white throat, and a yellow belly. Note the gray cap and the black mask through the eye. Found in a variety of woodland and savanna habitats, usually in small groups. The common calls are squeaky and scolding notes that are given frequently, often by a whole group together. Overall coloration is much brighter than that of other eremomelas; note the dark cheek patch.

Large, long-tailed game bird restricted to undisturbed humid evergreen forest on a few high mountains in Guatemala and adjacent southern Chiapas, Mexico; very rare and local. Mainly found singly in forest canopy, where can be easily overlooked. Unmistakable: black and white overall with red horn on top of head and piercing whitish eyes.
