Gray-sided Laughingthrush
Pterorhinus caerulatus
Similar to Buffy and Rusty Laughingthrushes, but much darker and less colorful. Dark rufous above and grayish-white below, with a silver ear patch, bright white throat, and a black patch around the eye. Generally not abundant in Himalayan foothill forests, where it forages in flocks of up to a dozen or so in thick undergrowth. Introduced to Hawaii, where it may be found in shrubby areas, often close to human habitation.

Wallace's Fruit-Dove
Ptilinopus wallacii
A large fruit dove of forest on islands. Distinctive looking with gray neck and chest, dark red cap, and orange belly with white chest band. Travels in small flocks in search of fruiting trees in which it forages actively. Similar to Rose-crowned Fruit-Dove, although the race that coincides has no rose-crown. Wallace’s Fruit-Dove differs in having an obvious white chest band. Typical of fruit doves, it leans forward and puffs out its chest when vocalizing. Call, a descending “wooo”.
Gray-olive Greenbul
Phyllastrephus cerviniventris
Fairly small and typically plain greenbul. The pale bill and legs are unusual. Also note the pale whitish or orangish eye. Found in the thick undergrowth and mid-story of forest. Usually in small, vocal groups. The distinctive call is an accelerating series of nasal barking notes. Similar to several other greenbul species, but separated by the pale bill and legs. Further separated from Cabanis’s Greenbul by the lack of yellowish tones on the underparts.
Tanimbar Megapode
Megapodius tenimberensis
A large, dull-colored partridge-like bird with powerful legs and feet, an obvious crest, and pink facial skin. Shy. Singles and pairs inhabit the forest floor within the lowlands. Restricted to Tanimbar Islands, where it is the only megapode, so easily recognized. Gives raucous “KE-OW-KE-OW-KE-OW” calls as well as “KWAK-KWAK-KWAK” notes.
