Black Hornbill
Anthracoceros malayanus
Sooty black bird with a large, heavy bill that is bone-white in males, dark in females. Some males have a bright white eyebrow, while others have an entirely black head. Females have reddish skin around the eye and a weaker, paler eyebrow stripe. Inhabits lowland mature forests. Travels singly, in pairs, or in small flocks, typically at lower levels in the forest than the large hornbills. Gives distinctly un-birdlike growling calls.

White-throated Swallow
Hirundo albigularis
A swallow with a small rufous patch on the forehead and a diagnostic complete steel-blue breast band which forms a white throat patch. This migrant breeds in South Africa in the Austral summer, September to April, and spends the non-breeding period (May to August) in south-central Africa. It prefers foraging in pairs or groups, sometimes with other swallow species, in grassland, light woodland, and floodplains, and is often seen perching on fences or on posts near water.

Riparian Parrotlet
Forpus crassirostris
Tiny parrot with green body, short pointed tail, and pale bill. Males have blue wings and a green rump; females are all green. Highly gregarious. Found in light woodlands, forest edges, second growth, open habitats, and urban parks, but typically avoids dense forests. Found in western Amazonia, from Ecuador to central Brazil.

Kafa White-eye
Zosterops kaffensis
A small, sharp-billed warbler-like bird. Note the yellow throat and broad white spectacles around the eyes. The birds in the southwestern Ethiopian part of the range have yellow underparts, while in northern Kenya, the underparts are gray. Found in montane forest, scrub, cultivated areas, and lush gardens, usually in hyperactive flocks. Similar to Abyssinian White-eye, but shows a broader eye-ring. Most common call is a high-pitched rising rattle. The song is a subdued, chatty sequence of “chew” notes.
